Once in a blue moon Tag

      Did you know that this Halloween also happens to be a blue moon? Not surprising for 2020, which inspired this tag.

     The background started as a collage of torn pieces of a crossword puzzle, a Bingo card, and a stamped calendar for October, using an older clear Prima stamp. Then I covered it all with white gesso, and colored it with Distress Spray Stains (Blueprint Sketch, Broken China, and Wilted Violet) and Lindy's Gang Spray (Freaky FrankenLime) on the bottom. After splattering with water, I also did some splatters with Lindy's Gang (Sidewalk Chalk) Spray. The moon was done with the technique seen here on Youtube, and the title using old alpha stickers covered with (Black Diamond) Stickles. 

     The chipboard date was covered with black gesso and embossed with Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powder. Behind the 3, I stamped a ghost with Lindy's Gang (Sidewalk Chalk) Spray. The tombstones got a marbled look by combining white and grey gesso together with a palette knife.

     The gate, branch, and tombstones were all cut with the Cricut Expression using the October 31st cartridge. After coating the gate and branch with black gesso, I embossed them with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. 

     Colorful fibers were added to the top and bottom, with (Black Soot) Distress Ink finishing the edges.

Halloween ATC's

      My love for Halloween and bright colors finally kick started my mojo with this set of ATC's!  

     They were made from playing cards that started with a coat of white gesso. Then I applied some of the newer and brighter Dylusions Paints, added some script stamping, and embossed the trees, house, and bats with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. 

   The bats and label are from the Funkie Junkie Boutique, pre -Coronavirus, when they would include a little goodie bag with your purchase. I have lots set aside for future ATC's or tags. Lol! 

     The chipboard pumpkin is from Creative Embellishments, and was also painted with Dylusions Paints after a coat of white gesso.

Lindy's Gang October Color Birthday Card

      Hi everybody! I hope you're staying safe and healthy! I'm here to share a mixed media card made for a Winter Birthday.

     The colors are inspired by the October Color Challenge at Lindy's Gang.

      

     The design is based on Sketch #247 at Feeling Sketchy.

     I started with white gesso applied to one of the Tim Holtz Mini Layered Stencil's from Set #47. Then I applied the gesso to a diecut flourish directly onto the background, and set it aside to dry. The next step was coloring the flourish with Lindy's Gang (Stormy Silver) Magical Shaker, and embossing it with LG (Queen Sheba's Silver) Embossing Powder, also used on the edges.

     The background colors started with LG Sprays (Ocean Breeze Blue and Bougainvillea Fuchsia). Once dry, I added the next layer using LG Magicals (Hi Maintenance Magenta and Guten Tag Teal) mixed with water. Snow was splattered with LG (Sidewalk Chalk) Spray, and the details of the stencil work picked up with Finnabair Metallique Wax (Brushed Iron).

     To create snow on the flowers, I added touches of white gesso, embossed with LG (Purely White) Embossing Powder, also done around the sentiment.

With Sympathy Card

      Hello again! It's never easy making a sympathy card, but this one came together pretty quickly!

      I used colors from the September Color Challenge at Lindy's Gang, and finished just in the nick of time. 

     The background was done with Lindy's (Polka Purple) Magical Shaker and (Banff Blue) Squirt onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I splattered (Glittering Gold) Magical Shaker over it, but it's very subtle.

     The sentiment, card base, and blue cardstock edges were embossed with LG (King Midas Gold) Embossing Powder, and the center edges done with LG (Midnight Violet) EP. 

     To bring out the sentiment, I painted a cloud using Lindy's (Sidewalk Chalk) Spray.

Mixed Media Dream Catcher

      Hi everyone! If you've been wondering what I've been up to, it's this mixed media dream catcher that I made for my Mom's 70th Birthday, featuring a photo of my late Grandpa and her Dad. I channeled my Native American roots, and really poured my heart and soul into it, taking many hours and weeks of work! But it was so worth it, especially after seeing Mom's tears when she opened it. 

     The colors were inspired by the September Mood Board at Mixed Media Academy. 

    

     I started by collaging some older papers, vintage sheet music, and torn dictionary pages, to a piece of cardboard. Then I colored it with Lindy's Gang Sprays and Magicals, and did a second coat to mask the Tim Holtz gears and the clock. I also sprayed the twine to form a circle, and added beads that started out burgundy, but were transformed with different embossing powders, mostly from Emerald Creek. 

     The feathers took the longest to make, and started with Prima Heavy White Gesso applied to the Stamperia (Feathers) Stencil. Then they got about 8 coats of Dylusions Paints, shadowed with (Black Soot) Distress Crayon. 

     I used several chipboard gears and cogs from Creative Embellishments, that were also painted with Dylusions Paints. Then I added Finnabair (Brown and Red) Rust Effect Pastes, with touches of Finnabair (Vintage Gold) Metallique Wax.

     

     The border was done with stamps (some embossed), and the Tim Holtz (Arrows) Stencil with Black Gesso added to it. Once dry, I colored them with Finnabair Waxes (Vintage Gold, Rich Copper, and Patina Green). Then I finished the edges with more Rust Pastes and Vintage Gold Wax.

     To hang it, I attached the branch with a strand of brown suede through a couple of grommets done with my Big Bite II.

Suntastic Beach Hut Tags

      Hi everyone! I'm back again to feature the "Suntastic" collection from Mintay Papers (just part of my winnings for playing the June Main Challenge  at More Than Words), with these beach hut tags!

      Most of the tags were cut with my Cricut Expression, using the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge at 7", and the others were hand-cut to showcase some of the beautiful papers. 

     

     The edges and holes were embossed with Ranger (Verdigris) Antiquities Embossing Powder. 

     I did lots of fussy-cutting, and inked the edges with (Black Soot) Distress Ink. Then I popped some up and left the others flat. 

     The roofs were made from rafia and sheer ribbons, to give it that hut look, with real sand under the eaves, adhered with Prima 3D Matte Gel. 

     The netting was stamped with the Finnabair (Net & Wire) Stamp. 

     After adding more sand, I finished them up with some shells!

Suntastic Card

      Hi everyone, and happy weekend! I was so excited to win some Mintay Papers for playing the June Main Challenge at More Than Words! With eight GORGEOUS collections to choose from, the new "Suntastic" was perfect for this birthday card I made!

     I created lots of texture with the netting and FIVE different embossing powders, starting with Lindy's Gang (Angel Wings Peacock) used over the water, for a beautiful sparkle. The sentiment was embossed with Emerald Creek (Kettle Copper) EP, and the card edges with Ranger (Hammered) Mixed Media Powder.

     I popped up the fussy-cut house, and embossed the edges with more Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Bone and Sea). 

     I wish you could see all of the shimmer on the sand castle, shells, flower, and cardboard from a couple of coats of Lindy's Gang (Aged Copper) Magical Shaker mixed with water! Not to mention the real copper flakes applied with Ranger Multi Medium Gloss, that I got at an art show MANY years ago, and the copper, aqua, and silver metallic thread that I hand-stitched.
