Anniversary Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Today I happily celebrate 18 years of marriage with my husband, and made this mixed media card for him, featuring some stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from the 400th sketch celebration at Freshly Made Sketches using their first sketch, which I'm pretty sure I've used before, also for my anniversary.

The background was colored onto a piece of white cardstock with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Brushed Nickel, Black Orchid Silver, Tiffany Lou Blue) and Magical Shaker (Stormy Silver). After spritzing with water and swirling my colors together, I let it dry, and did it again. I used the same colors on some torn white tissue paper, before embossing the script with the Vintage Script and Script Background Stamps, using Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powder

The heart was a leftover die cut that had been cut from purple cardstock. So I gave it new life with this cool metal effect, also used on the key, keyhole, and screws made from Creative paper clay with the Finnabair Moulds (Keys and Mechanica).

The first step was a coat of Prima Black Gesso, followed by Art Alchemy Sparks Paints (Raven Black and Mermaid Sparkle), and Art Alchemy Metallique (Silver Spoon) Paint, letting each coat dry before adding the next. Then I added EC (Fractured Ice) Embossing Powder, also used to mask a swirly heart border along the bottom, and around the card edges.

I love the texture and sparkle it gives around the black card base and the screws from the Finnabair Mechanica Mould!

Behind the keyhole, the recycled netting, and sentiment stamped with the Contemporary Greetings Unmounted Rubber Stamp, I used EC (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. As you can see it melted some of the netting, but I still like the results.

I hope you do too! Thanks for looking!

Travel Collage Art Journal ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Red Rubber Designs has a great assortment of travel stamps, which I featured on this art journal page!

The colors and bricks were inspired by the Lindy's Gang July Color Challenge.

I started with some background stamping using the Script Background and the Ancient Map Unmounted Rubber Stamps. Then I embossed the travel images onto white tissue paper using Jet Black Archival Ink and Lindy's Black Forest Black Embossing Powder, adhered with Prima Soft Matte Gel. The Paris Collage and Triomphe Collage were layered together, anchored by the Fleur de Lis, (no longer available) stamped onto paper clay.

The bricks were done with a stencil and white gesso. Then I colored them and the rest of the page with Lindy's Sprays (Black Orchid Silver, Autumn Maple Crimson, and Cajun Carnelian Red) and Magicals (Oom Pah Pah Pink and Black Forest Black). The red sprays were also added to Prima Rust Paste (Red) and applied to the bricks for some texture.

Unlike the other images, the Liberty one, was adhered over the bricks.

The wooden embellishments are from My Mind's Eye (Hello World), with the destination arrow over the Tower of Pisa.

I stamped the Fiore Dollar Stamp (no longer available) onto paper clay. Then I colored it with Black Orchid Silver Spray and Oom Pah Pah Pink Magical Shaker, followed by a coat of Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powder

Buttons were the finishing touch, with hand-stitching added to them!

     Thanks for looking!

Summer in the City ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Hello! I hope you're enjoying the rest of the weekend. I had a groovy time with this art journal spread, using Dylusions Paints, and a variety of  stamps from Red Rubber Designs

As I was going through my art journal, I came across this background that I had previously painted with Dylusions Paints. So I turned it upside down to create the illusion of light over the buildings. Then I stamped the sheet music and squares from the Vintage Background stamp set with Archival Ink (Jet Black) throughout both pages. To create the buildings, I applied black gesso to the Dylusions Stencil (Large Squares). Once it dried, I reapplied the stencil, to add Dylusions (Lemon Zest) Paint to some of the windows.

The cardboard sun was also painted with Dylusions Paints, with the addition of some micro beads. Then I stamped the rays with Dylusions Paint (Lemon Zest) using the Rays of Hope Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp.

The same techniques used on the sun, were also applied to the cardboard butterflies, but with different colored paints and beads.

All of the silhouettes were embossed with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) Aroma Embossing Powder, using the Hey Life Stamp.

After blending a strip of white cardstock with Dylusions Paints to create an ombre effect, I embossed "Hot" and "Summer" with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder, using the Alpha Grunge Stamp (no longer available).

The rest of the lyrics and year, inspired by the Summer in the City Challenge at Emerald Creek Dares, are Charcoal Thickers, embossed with a layer of Rocky Road Baked Texture, followed by a coat of Hammered Metal Embossing Powder.

The Statue of Liberty was embossed onto white cardstock with Emerald Creek Baked Texture (Patina Oxide) using the Liberty stamp. Then I smooshed her with some Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio and Hickory Smoke).

After painting some more cardstock with Dylusions Paints, I stamped and embossed all of the flowers with the Blossom Builders Stamp using Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) Embossing Powder, also used on the chipboard music notes, done in three coats for extra shine.

Lotsa Dotsa Shaker Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

It's been awhile since I've used the Lotsa Dotsa Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, and wanted to feature all of the fun circles on this card, made with Distress Inks to achieve an ombre effect, inspired by my Dad's beautiful blue eyes!

My design inspiration came from Stella Says Sketch Challenge #711.

I started with white cardstock and my blending tool, to apply Distress Inks from the bottom with (Peacock Feathers), and worked my way up with (Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch) on top. Then I sprayed the long strip from the Lotsa Dotsa Stamp with water, and pressed it onto the center of my paper. A few more sprays of waters, and my ombre effect was done. Once dry, I hand-stitched the scallops, and stamped the sentiment with the Contemporary Greetings Stamp using Palette Ink (Starry Night).

The white splatters were embossed with the So Splattered Stamp, using Lindy's Gang (Purely White) Embossing Powder, also used with the smaller circles from the Lotsa Dotsa Stamp.

To keep with the ombre effect, I stamped the larger circles from the Lotsa Dotsa Stamp onto my white card base, using Distress Inks (Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch), showcased in this shaker filled with small glitter circles, and sequins.

Thanks for stopping by, and shop for these stamps and more at Red Rubber Designs

Butterfly Shaker Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Now that Mother's Day is over, and I hope it was a good one, I can share the card that I made for my mom featuring stamps from Red Rubber Designs

The four butterflies stamped and embossed with the Life So Big Stamp using Emerald Creek (Silver Sparkle) Embossing Powder, represent me and my siblings.

The background was made with Lindy's Gang Magicals (Sassy Sapphire, Prima Donna Purple) and Magical Shaker (Oom Pah Pah Pink) onto white cardstock. Then I used Ranger's (Rainbow Sparkle) embossing powder with the floral stamp from the Simple Starters Set. After punching the circles, I used a Q-Tip with the same Magicals to highlight them.

Creating a wreath of flowers was the perfect way to show some sequins and other small hearts and stars through a circle shaker, made from clear acetate. The mom butterfly was made to sit on top, using the Finnabair Mould (Art Noveau) with paper clay, and painted with Lindy's Gang Sprays and Art Alchemy Paints. Then I embossed the wings with the Asian Butterfly Stamp, and colored it with sprays, followed by Finnabair Unicorn Paste, also used on the flowers.

The crown was made with Dusty Attic Chipboard, covered with gesso, and painted with Art Alchemy Paints. Then I embossed the hearts with Ranger (Rainbow Sparkle) EP.

April Showers Tag ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

April here in Reno, Nevada has already brought showers, including hail/snow, inspiring this tag featuring the Dotty Flowers Stamp from Red Rubber Designs. Nicer temperatures have finally arrived, but the white dots look like the hail we were getting.

I started with a white Dina Wakley tag, and colored it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Black Orchid Silver and Long John's Silver Vintage) and Magical Shakers (Stormy Silver and Bavarian Blue). As it was drying, I painted the cardboard cloud with Dylusion's Paint (White Linen), and embossed it with Emerald Creek (Soft Fallen Snow) for a fluffy texture. Before adhering it, I embossed the edges of the tag with Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) EP.

The wooden umbrella was given a coat of Prima Marketing Black Gesso, and embossed with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry and Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powders. Then I painted rays under it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Rudolph's Nose Red, Marigold Yellow Orange, Freaky Frankenlime, Blue Hawaiian Blue, and Witch's Potion Purple) and Magical (Bling-y Blonde). The rain was done with a stencil embossed with Lindy's Gang (Clearly Clear) EP, also used on the word strips that I printed out.

The Dotty Flowers also got a coat of (Clearly Clear) EP, after stamping them with Palette Inks onto white cardstock. Then I used silver gromlets for the centers.

Thanks for dropping by!

Cupid Valentine's Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Have you made your Valentine's cards yet? I combined rubber and digital stamping on this card that I made for my son.

The cupid heart was downloaded and printed from the new Pickled Potpourri Designs shop on Etsy, using the Vintage Heart Collages Digital Stamp. After cutting it from white cardstock, I gave it a coat of Lindy's Gang (Angel Wings Gold) Embossing Powder.

The rest of the stamping was done with my rubber stamps from Red Rubber Designs, starting with the script on the background, using the Beauty of a Woman Unmounted Rubber Stamp. Then I colored it with some Lindy's Sprays (Cafe au Lait and Blazing Sun), creating a shadow behind the heart with (Black Orchid Silver) and Stickles (Black Diamond), and making clouds from cotton balls. The sentiment was embossed with the Contemporary Greetings Stamp, and the small hearts with the I Heart You Stamp.

Finally, the arrows were embossed using the Elegant Arrows Cling Mounted Stamp onto cream cardstock, with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) Embossing Powder, also used with the other stamps and card base.
