Anniversary Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Today I happily celebrate 18 years of marriage with my husband, and made this mixed media card for him, featuring some stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from the 400th sketch celebration at Freshly Made Sketches using their first sketch, which I'm pretty sure I've used before, also for my anniversary.

The background was colored onto a piece of white cardstock with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Brushed Nickel, Black Orchid Silver, Tiffany Lou Blue) and Magical Shaker (Stormy Silver). After spritzing with water and swirling my colors together, I let it dry, and did it again. I used the same colors on some torn white tissue paper, before embossing the script with the Vintage Script and Script Background Stamps, using Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powder

The heart was a leftover die cut that had been cut from purple cardstock. So I gave it new life with this cool metal effect, also used on the key, keyhole, and screws made from Creative paper clay with the Finnabair Moulds (Keys and Mechanica).

The first step was a coat of Prima Black Gesso, followed by Art Alchemy Sparks Paints (Raven Black and Mermaid Sparkle), and Art Alchemy Metallique (Silver Spoon) Paint, letting each coat dry before adding the next. Then I added EC (Fractured Ice) Embossing Powder, also used to mask a swirly heart border along the bottom, and around the card edges.

I love the texture and sparkle it gives around the black card base and the screws from the Finnabair Mechanica Mould!

Behind the keyhole, the recycled netting, and sentiment stamped with the Contemporary Greetings Unmounted Rubber Stamp, I used EC (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. As you can see it melted some of the netting, but I still like the results.

I hope you do too! Thanks for looking!

Love You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

February is the month of love, and the I Heart You Unmounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, is perfect for all of your Valentine's projects, including weddings and anniversaries! With a few other stamps, and an old plastic zipper, I created this card for my husband.

My design inspiration came from Sketch #186 at Feeling Sketchy.

I stamped the largest heart from the I Heart You Set on the back of the grey pocket, and cut it out, revealing the red cardstock with the sentiment. Then I hand-stitched around the heart, and machine-stitched around the pocket, after embossing it with the Background Stripes Stamp and Emerald Creek Hammered Metal EP

To mimic a love note coming out of the pocket, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Vintage Script Cling Mounted Stamp, anchored by three hearts from the I Heart You set.

The zipper was embossed with Emerald Creek Hammered Metal EP, and attached to a couple of 6" strips of red cardstock, embossed with the Victorian Borders Stamp using Emerald Creek Black Onyx EP.

Thanks for taking a look, and shop Red Rubber Designs for these stamps and more!

Vintage Santa Card Set ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Hello! I'm back to share a set of Christmas cards featuring the Vintage Santa Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from the December Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com using Sketch #2.

The colors were inspired by the festive December Color Challenge @ Lindy's Stamp Gang!

I started by coloring a sheet of 12 X 12 cream cardstock with Magicals (Rizzo's Rowdy Red, Greased Lightnin' Green, and Drop Dead Gorgeous Green) and some water, which produced a beautiful effect. Once dry I stamped the Vintage Santa image all over it, in order to make multiple cards with unique color effects.

I cut a strip of black cardstock to mimic Santa's belt, with a letter tucked into it, stamped with Vintage Script, and colored with different Lindy's sprays (Brushed Nickel, Black Orchid Silver,  Pineapple Paradise, Golden Doubloons, Cathedral Pines Green, and Ponderosa Pines Olive). For some more variation, I added different striped ribbons and colors of bling.

The sentiment was embossed with Lindy's Purely White Embossing Powder, and also comes in the cling mounted Vintage Christmas stamp set, which also includes the snowflakes that I stamped onto my Scarlet card base.

The green one is my fave! Thanks for looking!

Train Collage Christmas Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

My mother-in-law just LOVES vintage trains, so of course I had to make her this Christmas card featuring the Train Collage stamp from Red Rubber Designs!

I was inspired by this November Week 1 Sketch at Viva la Verve Sketches!

For the background I blended various Distress Inks onto some white cardstock to give it a vintage look. Then I used Palette Inks (L'Amore Red and Giverney Green) with the Vintage Script stamp, and tore and distressed the edges. I used the same Distress Ink colors on some more white cardstock for the background where I stamped the train with black ink twice, so that I could make a frame with it for this months Stamped and Cut Window Technique at House of Cards. I also cut out the windows in the train and backed it with some yellow glitter paper.

To color the train and leaves, I used Distress Inks again, and a gold pen, with touches of Stickles for some sparkle. After adding the ribbons, I popped up my frame with some Pop Dots. The sentiment was stamped and embossed using the Vintage Christmas stamp.

Merry Christmas Card ~ Inspirational # 150

Happy Holidays! Inspirational #150, hosted by Lynda this week, is all about your sparkly holiday greetings, for which I made this Christmas card.

The Amelia patterned paper from Red Rubber Designs was the perfect choice for sketch #1 used for the December Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

I started by stamping and embossing the gold script on the red background using Vintage Script, and covering it with some red Stickles. Then I created a banner out of the tags from the paper pack, stringing them through some red tinsel. The green tag was stamped using Holly Swirls. Then I used my gold embossing powder again to stamp Merry Christmas over the tags, and to stamp the zigzag stitching with Running Stitches. I finished it off with more Stickles over the poinsettia and leaf, adding some bling in the middle. We'd love to see your sparkly holiday creations at Red Rubber Inspirationals! Enjoy the season!

Inspirational #117 ~ Postage Due

Happy Thursday! Time for a new challenge @ Red Rubber Inspirationals, with Inspirational #117, Postage Due, hosted by Mary Anne. This week's theme was the perfect opportunity to make this wedding card for my baby sister, who is getting married tomorrow. I wish I could be there!

I started by misting the background and flowers with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays (Treasure Island Aqua and Clam Bake Beige). I did a lot of stamping on here with the following stamps:

All of the gold was embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The rest of the stamping was done with Versa Magic Inks (Jumbo Java and Oasis Green).

This is also my entry for the April Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com using sketch #1.

TFL!

Inspirational #104 ~ Under the tree

I'm so excited to be hosting my very first challenge for the Red Rubber Inspirationals blog! My challenge (Inspirational #104) is to let your stamping sparkle by adding glitter, bling, mists, or Stickles to your stamping, like I did on this page that I made of my nephew peeking under the tree.

I used the Amelia Patterned Cardstock Collection and stamped the the top left and bottom right of the green punched paper using Vintage Script stamp and Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink, which I just LOVE! I used the same ink to cover my chipboard snowflake and then applied Stickles (Goldenrod) over it.

I made the star on the Christmas tree the same way, by stamping it onto white cardstock, cutting it out, and applying Stickles (Goldenrod). I used the tag that came in the collection to stamp my tree on using the Oh Christmas Tree stamp with Memento Cottage Ivy ink. I extended the trunk by stamping it onto the bottom layer of the tag using Palette (Burnt Umber) ink. Then came the fun part of decorating it, which I did by using Stickles for my ornaments. I also used Stickles to make the berries on top.

Be sure to join me and the team for some more inspiration! We'd love to see how you make your stamping sparkle!
