Charming Gardens Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy Thursday! Sharing a shabby birthday card featuring the Charming Gardens and Charming Gardeners Cling Mounted Stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

I was inspired by this fabulous Sketch #151 @ Feeling Sketchy

Instead of staggering frames, I decided to make a window out of kraft board. The outside frame measures 7", and the inner window panes are 2" X 3". After covering it with gesso, I applied several coats of paint using a fairly dry brush, and then lightly went over the paint layers and edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Finally, I backed the window with a piece of clear acetate.

To create the garden scene, I stamped 3 images from the Charming Gardens and Charming Gardeners stamps with Burnt Umber Palette Ink onto white cardstock. I colored everything in with Distress Inks, water, and sprays. Then I added a strip of fencing that I got from my Martha Stewart border punch, using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink again around the edges. For the sentiment, I used the Darling Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set with Starry Night Palette Ink.

The background was spritzed with some blue and green sprays, with machine stitching around the edges. The bricks were done with a stencil and white gesso, and painted with 3 different shades of grey. Then I used Shaded Lilac Distress Ink to dye a strip of lace, making a loop on the left. I used Petaloo flowers, and colored the 2 smaller ones with sprays and Distress Inks. Finally I added some vintage buttons.

Thanks for looking and stopping by!

Eclectic Rainbow Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I always have fun when I'm playing with color, and used the rainbow to create this card with Distress Inks and stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #150 at Feeling Sketchy, as I love combining cards with tags.

I started with a Tim Holtz Manilla Tag that I applied Distress Inks (Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Blueprint Sketch, and Wilted Violet) to with my blending tool. Then I dripped water from a paintbrush over each color, and let it run down the tag. Once dry, I stamped the dragonflies using the Everyday Eclectic Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set. Then I stamped and layered my flower on top with the Nothing Is Better Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set, coloring it with Distress Inks. Behind the tag I used Distress Inks again onto white cardstock, blended my colors, (Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Wilted Violet) and used black gesso to create the stripes with the Tim Holtz Stripes Stencil. Behind the stripes I used a piece of green mesh that I had saved from some fruit. I can never throw those away. Lol!

I used the same ink and dripping water technique on the pocket, machine stitching the edges in black. The striped gesso piece was stitched along the edges with a rainbow thread. Then I stamped the black flower with the Natural Dream Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp, and the smaller flowers with the Floral Collage Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp

Finally, for the sentiment, I used the Darling Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set, stamped in black.

Thanks for your visit!

Blue Vase Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I had a lot of inspiration while making this card, using some fabulous stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

I was first inspired by this beautiful sketch # 126 @ Cardabilities, which I flipped.

Then came the vase which was inspired by The Mixed Media Card Challenge #13 to use the color blue, with an optional vase element.

I cut my vase out of white cardstock with my Cricut Expression using the Serenade cartridge. Then I stamped the blue design using two shades of blue and the Victorian Embellishments stamp. To give it some shine, I applied the rest of my Glossy Accents, afraid it wouldn't be enough, which along the top of the vase I did miss a few spots. But it makes it look aged, so in this case it worked fine!

I also used white cardstock for the background, and started with the Script Background stamp. Then I used a stencil and some gesso to create the horizontal stripes behind the vase. Once that dried I used three different blue mists to spray all over the card. Next came the leaves, which I embossed with Ranger Blue Glass embossing powder, using the Happily Grateful stamp, which I also used to make the flowers. So that you could see more of the leaf design I decided to hand-stitch more stems to attach my flowers to. I added some light blue bling to the centers, and darker blue bling to the punched flowers along the right. The sentiment was also embossed onto blue vellum using the Darling stamp.

Inspirational #216 ~ Make a Fuss

I'm hosting Inspirational #216 this week at Red Rubber Inspirationals! Come join us and make a fuss, by fussy cutting your stamping! I fussy cut all of the butterflies on this card that I made from plain cardstock.

I used a blending tool and Distress Inks on some white cardstock, and then flicked it with some water drops. The butterflies were stamped with black ink using Beautiful Butterflies , fussy cut out, and colored with markers. I curled the wings a little, and then applied Glossy Accents to them for some shine. Then I used the Fern Frond stamp. The stitching on top was stamped using Running Stitches, and for the sentiment below, I used Darling, all from Red Rubber Designs.

Finally, I added some flowers and bling, coloring the little orange flowers with some mists. Thanks for stopping by!

Inspirational # 203 ~ Birthday Bash

Come join in my first Inspirational of the year at Red Rubber Inspirationals! We're celebrating our first year of Inspirationals with a birthday bash, using any kind of birthday stamp, like the ones I used here on a birthday card for my aunt, whose birthday is today. Happy Birthday Aunt Nana!!

I used lots of stamping with red and black embossing powders onto white cardstock. The heart border was done with the I heart You stamp set, and the gifts and confetti with the Gift For You set. I did the sentiment with the  Darling stamp set, all from Red Rubber Designs. I used some bling for January's birthstone of garnet, with some red Stickles on the red card and gifts.  I finished it up with some machine stitching, and the large beaded heart that originally had green ribbon coming out from the rose. I cut it out and added the black trim instead.

Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Inspirational #139 ~ Anything goes

For Inspirational #139, at Red Rubber Inspirationals, I made this birthday card for my little sister, since the theme this week is anything goes. She's a big shoe lover, so the Darling stamp was perfect for her!

I took my inspiration from this sketch used for the September Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. As soon as I saw the boxes on the left, I thought of a closet full of shoes. I stamped the shoes, colored them with Prismacolor markers, and for shine and dimension, added Glossy Accents.

The sentiment also comes in the Darling stamp set, and the stitches were done using Running Stitches, which can all be found at Red Rubber Designs.
