Cupcake Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy Birthday to my wonderful son who turned 15 today! I made some of his favorite cupcakes on this card using stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from Card Sketch #91 @ Sketch ~N~Scrap!

I started by stamping the background with the Gingham Background Unmounted Rubber Stamp. Then I used Distress Spray Stains to make the tag on the left, masking the numbers with Distress Inks. The hearts and circles, along with the cupcakes, were stamped with the Sweet Day Cupcake Unmounted Stamp Set. Each cupcake was frosted with gesso, where I added small beads while wet, for some sprinkles. The cherry and kiss were coated with Glossy Accents.

The other tag was stamped with the Background Stripes Unmounted Stamp using Candied Apple  Distress Ink. I colored all of the cupcakes with Distress Spray Stains, adding some to my gesso with the kiss popped on top. The cupcakes stamped with the silver liners originally come with a butterfly on top, but was easy to mask out with the gesso.

Then I popped up the peppermint (my son's FAVE) stamped with the Sugar Coated Sweetness
stamp. I finished it up with silver hand-stitching right under the sentiment stamped with the Sweet Sayings stamp.

Metallic Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy Thursday! I'm back with a birthday card where I combined some metallics with stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

I took my design inspiration from Sketch #3 for the January Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

My color inspiration came from the January Color Challenge at Lindy's Stamp Gang, which brought all of these metallics together!

I started by spraying my background with Lindy's Brushed Nickel and Black Orchid Silver, finishing the edges with Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powder. Then I used a piece of cream cardstock to create a bokeh effect with my sprays and stamps. With a small circular foam brush, I applied some sprays (Clam Bake Beige, Golden Doubloons, A Bit o' Bubbly, Brushed Nickel, Black Orchid Silver, and Sidewalk Chalk) overlapping part of my circles.  Then I used Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powder again to stamp the larger rings with the Background Soup Stamp. The smaller rings were embossed with Twilight Bronze Slate using the Build-A-Background Stamp. Finally I punched around the edges with three different sized circle punches, and embossed them with Twilight Bronze Slate.

To allow the bokeh effect to show through, I made a banner out of some sheer ribbons, and machine-stitched the edges with silver.

As soon as I saw Lindy's image, I knew I had to add some balloons! Originally I wanted to make shakers out of them, so I could add confetti, but didn't have any clear acetate. So instead, I cut some balloons with my Cricut, colored them again with the same sprays, and added clear gesso with small beads to the bottoms. I embossed around the edges with Twilight Bronze Slate and Queen Sheba's Silver, using the Sweet Sayings Stamp to emboss the sentiment with Midnight Pewter. For some shine and dimension, I added a coat of Glossy Accents, and finished it up with some raffia bows and hand-stitched strings.

Mini Medallions Winter Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Instead of stamping snowflakes on this winter birthday card, I decided to use the Mini Medallions Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs!

I took my inspiration from the November Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com with this beautiful bonus sketch!

The background was done with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Sassy Sapphire and some silver sprays. Without attaching it, I placed a large snowflake onto the wood strip of paper, and masked it with silver sprays. Then I lined up the snowflake onto my background and masked it with white gesso. Once dry, I distressed and machine-stitched the edges. Next, I layered it with a snowflake die covered with Stickles, and a leftover flower that I made using my Water Flower Tutorial. I just added some Blending Solution to lighten up the alcohol ink. In the center, I added a chipboard circle covered with gesso, and embossed with the Mini Medallions stamp. For some more sparkle, I added silver glittery branches, and some bling to the middle of my medallion.

I also embossed another design from the Mini Medallions stamp onto a chipboard circle, placed onto a chipboard snowflake that I covered with gesso, dry painted, and applied some Distress Crazing Medium to.

The sentiment was embossed onto a wood banner piece that I also covered with white gesso, using the Sweet Sayings Unmounted Stamp. I finished it off with a mini silver brad.

Thanks for your visit, and be sure to visit  Red Rubber Designs for the Cyber Monday Sale!

Masculine Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Black is my husband's favorite color, so I challenged myself to make him an all black card for his next birthday, and this was the result!

Since he loves soda the way I love coffee, I glued some bottle caps and soda tabs to a piece of corrugated cardboard, along with some black buttons. Then I went over everything with a heavy coat of Prima black gesso, waited for it to dry, and sprayed it with some black and silver sprays. Thinking it needed more texture, I added some strips of fibers in between the ridges.

On the base of my card, I embossed the Chicken Wire Background stamp from Red Rubber Designs with Lindy's Stamp Gang Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powder.

I used the same embossing powder for the sentiment stamped onto a piece of vellum with the Sweet Sayings Stamp Set. Around the edges, I rubbed a little bit of Inka Gold Platinum, along with touches on the bottle caps and gesso work.  The chipboard numbers were covered with black gesso, some black and silver sprays, and a coat of Tim Holtz' Crazing Medium for a little crackle. Then I added some Black Soot Distress Stickles for some sparkle, which also went over most of the gesso work.

It's hard to tell in these photos, but I embossed some phrases onto each bottle cap with the same silver embossing powder, as well as black, with the Sweet Sayings and Savvy Sayings Stamp Sets to spell out hugs & kisses, Happy Birthday, and I love you.

Kisses Layout ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I finally got a wedding page done for my sister and brother-in-law using mixed media and some stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

My design inspiration came from this beautiful sketch from Scrap Africa!

I started by coating a layer of  Prima Clear Gesso onto watercolor paper, attached some white tissue paper to it, and sealed it with another coat. Once dry, I used some Lindy Stamp Gang Sprays onto the background (Brushed Nickel, Black Orchid Silver, and Cathedral Pines Green), waited for it to dry again, and then stamped black script over it with the Beauty of a Woman Background Unmounted Stamp.  For the title I used the Sweet Sayings Unmounted Stamp with red ink to make it stand out.

All of the other stamping was embossed onto clear, red, and green vellum papers using Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder (Queen Sheba's Silver), and the Celtic Images Cling Mounted Stamp, for my Irish brother-in-law. Then I used a small watercolor brush to color in the designs with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray (Black Orchid Silver).

The lattice work was done with white gesso and TCW Butterfly Collage Stencil. Once dry, I used the stencil again to apply some Inka-Gold (Platinum) with my finger. Then I layered three different sheer ribbons, and attached some white fibers and strands of pearls across the page.

All of the red flowers are Petaloo's Textured Red Blossoms.

The small white flowers I've had for a long time, and just added some pearls to the centers. The large white one is from Prima's Holiday Jubilee. Then I scattered some buttons around, stitched in white, to go with the hand-stitching I did in between the photos.
