Hello Baby Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Hello 2020! My first post of the year is this card featuring some stencil work and stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

I started by applying white gesso to the Tim Holtz (Plaid) Stencil. Then I painted it with Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers (Stormy Silver and Bavarian Blue) and Spray (Afternoon Delight Denim), giving it some highlights with Prima Marketing Metallique Wax (Old Silver). The stitched embossing was done with LG (Lapis Lazuli Blue Gold) Embossing Powder.

To the card base, I applied white gesso to the Tim Holtz (Holiday Knit) Stencil.

The sentiment was embossed with the Savvy Sayings Stamp onto a leftover tag that I had previously cut.

Finally, I popped up the Rocking Chair that I stamped using permanent blue ink, and embossed with LG (Clearly Clear) EP.

Masculine Feel Better Cards ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Hello! I'm welcoming the first day of March with a couple of masculine cards that can be used for any occasion with a simple change of sentiment, featuring some Unmounted Rubber Stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

The Savvy Sayings Stamp gives you lots of other options for sentiments, including the one I embossed here, onto a smooshed Distress Ink background, framed with the Fabulous Frames Stamp.

The rest of the stamping was done on a coat of gesso, with the Gingham Background and Background Stripes Stamps. I immediately washed my stamps with soap and warm water, and it left no trace at all of the gesso. Once dry, I colored with some LSG sprays, and finished by rubbing some Prima Metallique Wax on top, to reveal the texture.

I especially love the blues and silvers on this card, that I made for my uncle!

But I know my cousin will appreciate the black, grey, and silvers on this card!

Thanks for looking!

Brick & Rose Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing a Thank You Card that I made with some stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

The bricks were made from a Prima stencil and gesso, and colored with Distress Spray Stains (Vintage Photo and Antique Linen). Once dry, I added some Distress Embossing Powder (Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy) on top for some gritty texture. Then I tore and machine stitched the side edges.

I did a lot of fussy-cutting with the roses, stamped with the Charcoal Flowers Cling Mounted Stamp Set, and colored with sprays. Then I arranged them around the gold frame, embossed onto black cardstock with the Fanciful Vintage Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set.

To mimic the bricks in the background, I tore around the edges of the stamped and paper pieced Rose Wine Labels, and popped it up for more dimension. The sentiment fit perfectly inside, and was stamped with the Savvy Sayings Unmounted Stamp Set.

Thank you for your visit, and shop Red Rubber Designs for all of these stamps and more!

Masculine Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Black is my husband's favorite color, so I challenged myself to make him an all black card for his next birthday, and this was the result!

Since he loves soda the way I love coffee, I glued some bottle caps and soda tabs to a piece of corrugated cardboard, along with some black buttons. Then I went over everything with a heavy coat of Prima black gesso, waited for it to dry, and sprayed it with some black and silver sprays. Thinking it needed more texture, I added some strips of fibers in between the ridges.

On the base of my card, I embossed the Chicken Wire Background stamp from Red Rubber Designs with Lindy's Stamp Gang Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powder.

I used the same embossing powder for the sentiment stamped onto a piece of vellum with the Sweet Sayings Stamp Set. Around the edges, I rubbed a little bit of Inka Gold Platinum, along with touches on the bottle caps and gesso work.  The chipboard numbers were covered with black gesso, some black and silver sprays, and a coat of Tim Holtz' Crazing Medium for a little crackle. Then I added some Black Soot Distress Stickles for some sparkle, which also went over most of the gesso work.

It's hard to tell in these photos, but I embossed some phrases onto each bottle cap with the same silver embossing powder, as well as black, with the Sweet Sayings and Savvy Sayings Stamp Sets to spell out hugs & kisses, Happy Birthday, and I love you.

Spring Bouquet Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I'm back again with another Thank You card, this time featuring the Spring Bouquet stamp from Red Rubber Designs!

And it was a happy coincidence that my color palette just so happened to match this month's Color Challenge @ Lindy's Stamp Gang!

The colors are so light and soft, so it's kinda hard to tell, but I used four LSG sprays on the cream background (Cotton Candy Pink, Tiffany's Blue, Violaceous Violet, and Treasure Island Aqua). Then I used a paintbrush with the same color sprays for the background of my stamped image, using Sidewalk Chalk to color the vase. The flowers and wood grain were then colored with Distress Inks.  For the sentiment, I used the Savvy Sayings stamp, embossed with LSG Purely White Embossing Powder. The doily was sprayed with Cotton Candy Pink, and the edges were colored with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

Then I punched and layered three of my papers for the Layer it Up Challenge @ Frilly and Funkie, adding even more layers with my stamped image and doily, which I stitched through with my sewing machine, along with the edges of the wood grain paper. To finish it off I added some dots of Liquid Pearls (Petal Pink) along the punching, and some fiber tied in a bow.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy your weekend!

Happy Birthday Shaker Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I recently made a shaker card for the first time, and immediately went to work on another one for my son's birthday next month. He's going to be 14, so I went with a more grungy look, with a space background on the shaker, using stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

Starting with white cardstock, I applied gesso onto my diamond stencil, and let it dry. Then I sprayed some aqua and my new silver sprays on top, since aqua is my son's favorite color. Using a permanent black ink, I then stamped different phrases with the Be Happiness  stamp, and his birthday using the Mini-Bet stamp, which I also used with teal ink to stamp 14 in random spots.

The circles on the background were embossed with the Background Soup stamp. I also embossed the Lotsa Dotsa stamp, and added some buttons in the centers.

To create the large diamond on the background, I masked some drywall tape with black ink, added some embossing powder, and machine stitched two rows of stitching in metallic silver and teal threads. Then I made the background of the diamond shaker with black cardstock misted with a few sprays to look like outer space. To make the stars I embossed the Speckle Background stamp with silver embossing powder, as well as the sentiment, which was done with the Savvy Sayings stamp. I cut the frame from silver cardstock, where I also did some embossing using the Background Soup stamp, adding some brads in the corners. Behind the frame I added a piece of clear packaging, and attached it to the double sided tape along the background, after filling it with some glitter. So fun!!!

Sunflower Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

A few weeks ago my husband surprised me with boxes of stamps and craft supplies from a co-worker! This is the thank you card that I made for her, using my stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

Except for the sentiment, which was stamped onto wood using Savvy Sayings, the rest of the stamping was embossed with Distress Embossing Powder (Walnut Stain). On the yellow background I used Speckle Background to mimic dirt. Then I used the Sunflowers stamp to emboss the sunflowers in the watering can, coloring them with Distress Inks, and painting the watering can with silver paint. The larger sunflowers were embossed with the My Sunshine stamp set, and also colored with Distress Ink. For some more texture, I decided to add some brown beads to the centers.

I took my design inspiration from this sketch used for the October Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. from Viva La Verve Sketches.

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:

Happy Birthday Fall Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy first day of Fall, my favorite time of the year!! And a special Happy Birthday to my little sister, who unfortunately, won't be getting this card today, as I sent it out late. So hopefully she isn't seeing this right now. Lol!

I made her this card inspired by this beautiful Sketch #131 @ Cardabilities!

After misting some kraft cardstock, I used a doily stencil to apply some yellow texture paste. Then I painted the round chipboard, and stamped the lines with the Punctuation stamp from Red Rubber Designs. For the birthday sentiment I used the Savvy Sayings stamp, then wrapped it with some fibers, adding a couple of buttons inherited from my late grandma and great grandma.

I inked and sprayed the green scallops and added some brown beads to them. To make the leaves, I inked some white cardstock with Distress Inks, stamped them with the Filled With Blessings stamp, fussy cut them, and curled them up for dimension, adding them to the hand stitched branches. Since Autumn leaves is the theme for the Fantasy Stampers Challenge, I'll also be entering it there.

Inspirational #219 ~ Red Rubber Inspirational Team

Give thanks with Inspirational #219, hosted by Lynda, for Red Rubber Inspirationals! I had a blast making this thank you card for an example!

My design inspiration came from this awesome sketch #122 at Cardabilities!

I started by stamping the bird with All things of nature onto a white circle. I colored it with Distress Inks and markers, using water to make the clouds in the background, and adding a small bead for the eye. Then I used the (Well Rounded) TCW stencil with some gesso to create the circles.Taking the colors from the May Card Challenge at Scrapbook.com, I sprayed some mists to it, and then stamped the black splatters with the So Splattered stamp. For the sentiment, I used Savvy Sayings, all from Red Rubber Designs

I finished it up with some machine stitching, and hand-stitching around the circle. I'm also entering this into challenge #97 (Things with wings) at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and the Mixed Media Card Challenge also with wings for the theme.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Inspirational #117 ~ Postage Due

Happy Thursday! Time for a new challenge @ Red Rubber Inspirationals, with Inspirational #117, Postage Due, hosted by Mary Anne. This week's theme was the perfect opportunity to make this wedding card for my baby sister, who is getting married tomorrow. I wish I could be there!

I started by misting the background and flowers with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays (Treasure Island Aqua and Clam Bake Beige). I did a lot of stamping on here with the following stamps:

All of the gold was embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The rest of the stamping was done with Versa Magic Inks (Jumbo Java and Oasis Green).

This is also my entry for the April Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com using sketch #1.
