MME Sleigh Bells Ring 2 Pager

These older photos of my son were a perfect match for the new My Mind's Eye Sleigh Bells Ring I want it all bundle from FotoBella! The plaid papers do match up across both pages, but look a little off in this photo.

I was inspired by this sketch used for the August 2 Page Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

From the Mixed Bag, I used Christmas, Santa, the snowflakes, the sleigh, bingo card, and small circles.
I attached the Wood Dots to the red snowflake on the right photo, and for the banner. All of the stitching was stamped, as well as the flourish coming from the sleigh. I used the Word/Alpha Stickers for "Gifts" and the year.

To create a border going across both pages, I masked a notebook stencil with Distress Inks (Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint). I also used all but one of the Decorative Tapes. For the center of the black snowflake and the sleigh, I used the Enamel Shapes.

MME + Sleigh Bells Ring = Joy ~ FotoBella DT

Like a child at Christmas, I was so joyful to open up my new My Mind's Eye Sleigh Bells Ring I want it all bundle from FotoBella! I used the JOY paper to add this fussy cut photo of my son right in the middle of the O.

I tore and distressed around the wreath, and hand-stitched the red and white circle, adding some green fiber around it. The Be Merry tag, small circle of berries, and bell ornament, which I hung with more hand-stitching, comes in the Mixed Bag. I added the bow, inking the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. I used Decorative Tape along the bottom, placing a Decorative Brad on top. I used the Word/Alpha Stickers for the year, which comes in different colors and all kinds of holiday sentiments.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ARTastic Guest Designer

I'm so excited to be guest designing this month for ARTastic, a monthly challenge blog inspired by works of art!! This month's inspiration comes from this beautiful piece of fabric art by Kristen Doran. The criteria is to use fabric on your project.

I came up with this layout, inspired by the colors and flowers, using Bo Bunny's older Serenity collection.

I fussy cut the branch and hung some fussy cut and stamped lanterns from it, adding beads and machine stitching.

The flowers were made with my Serenity Blooms Tutorial, adding muslin fabric to the centers. I stamped them and gave them some dimension by adding some glue and water, and finishing it with a bead.

Thanks for looking, and be sure to stop by ARTastic for some more inspiration from the design team!

Inspirational #134 ~ Just Wing it (Red Rubber Inspirationals DT)

Happy Thursday! It's time for another stamping challenge at Red Rubber Inspirationals! I'm hosting this week with Inspirational #134 ~ Just Wing It. All you need to do is create a project with any kind or brand of stamp that has an image of wings, such as a butterfly, bird, dragonfly, airplane, angel, etc. Or just add stamped wings to something or someone. Here's a tag that I made with some stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

I started by creating the lattice using Vintage Background stamped with gesso onto white cardstock. After it dried, I applied a few different Distress Inks, and used a Q-tip, dipped in water, to make clouds. The bird was stamped using Hope Perches, and the butterfly and sentiment with Beautiful Soul. I used Distress Inks to color in "soul", and then applied glossy accents for some shine and dimension. The butterfly was also colored with Distress Inks and a gold pen. I used some small beads for the flower in her hair, and folded her wings out.

Thanks for your visit!

Inspirational #132 ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

This weeks Inspirational #132,  at Red Rubber Inspirationals, is all about stamped polka dots, hosted by Kendra. I had a lot of fun making this card for my aunt!

I started by using some gesso and the Crafters Workshop (Well Rounded) stencil, to create the circles on the left side of some white cardstock. After it dried I sprayed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray (Witch's Potion Purple). Then I used black ink to stamp Well Defined Backgrounds. The circle rings and small purple dots were stamped using Build a Background. I used Palette Ink (Iris) for the rings and Memento (Grape Jelly) for the small dots. I used a strip of purple vellum to go across the bottom and stamped some larger dots onto it using Background Soup. I used the same set to emboss the silver along the edges. The layered circles of dots were done with Lotsa Dotsa. I used Ranger Archival Black Ink to stamp the ink splotch above the buttons, using So Splattered, and  "Miss You!" using Chicken Scratch, all from Red Rubber Designs. I punched the edges with holes and mounted it onto black cardstock. All of the buttons once belonged to my late grandma, which was my aunts mother, and I used nine of them to represent her nine children.

Come Away With Me 2 Pager ~ FotoBella DT

The fabulous, vintage travel collection, Come Away With Me, by Graphic 45, from FotoBella, was just made for this gorgeous photo of my husbands late grandmother, that I scrapped into a 2 pager! The first page is actually the back of the cover page that I made in my last post, for an album that I'm making for my sister-in-law. I kept it real simple, just adding lace trim to the punched paper strip, which I  stitched, to tie the two pages together.

On the second page I used the Journaling and Ephemera Cards , and layered them with some postage stamps, which I cut with decorative scissors from the 12 x 12 Cardstock Pad. Then I inked all of the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. The date was stamped on top, and I finished it off with this old flower I had leftover from my Pinkish Pleated Flower Tutorial. I actually used it on a page that I scrapped of my own grandmother. I just added a pearl for the center.

Thanks for the visit, and enjoy your weekend!

Graphic 45 Wanderlust ~ FotoBella DT

I've had an old photo album that my sister-in-law has wanted me to scrap for her for over a year now, of her and my husbands late grandmother. But I've been waiting to find the perfect papers, and though I did find a great line that I got a few months ago, the album has still been sitting there untouched. Until I saw this new fabulous collection (Come Away With Me ) by Graphic 45, from FotoBella. The best part is that the colors go perfectly with the other papers that I got, so I can use both. The vintage travel theme is exactly what I had in mind, since she used to be a flight attendant. Here is the first cover page!

I started by inking and distressing the map background. Then I punched and layered some papers from the 6 x 6 Cardstock Pad behind the photo. I stamped her name on the tag and the postage on the Journaling and Ephemera Card with the plane on it. The button on the bottom left, circle stone on the tag, and flower centers once belonged to her or her late daughter. The green flower center use to be earrings, and the center of the other flower was once a bracelet.  I love tearing things apart to recycle them into something beautiful, and adding a personal touch at the same time!

Thanks for your visit!

Inspirational # 129 ~ By the Sea

Summer by the Sea is what Inspirational #129 is all about, hosted by myself, for Red Rubber Inspirationals! I made these colorful tags made out of cardstock, some fibers, and of course stamping.

I started by cutting my tags out of white cardstock at 4 1/2", using my Cricut and the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge. Then I cut tags at 5" using colored cardstock for the backs, covering the edges with Stickles for some sparkle. I applied Distress Inks onto the white tags with my blending tool, and simply gave them a little splash of water. The effect was just what I wanted to showcase the Mini Shells and Under the Sea stamps from Red Rubber Designs. For the tops of the tags, I used Reinforcers, and then used my Big Bite II to attach the silver gromlets, tying some fibers through them. The images were colored with markers and Stickles, and finished with some bling for the eyes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Graphic 45 Look Out World! ~ FotoBella DT

The beautiful, new collection (Come Away With Me), by Graphic 45, from FotoBella, is perfect for all of your vintage photos, especially with a travel theme! I scrapped this photo from 1924 of a relative of mine on my Dad's side of the family.

I layered the papers and Journaling and Ephemera Cards behind the circle Coredinations cardstock, which I embossed and lightly sanded, to create small waves. Then I masked the compass and watermarks with Distress Inks (Frayed Burlap and Broken China), using the Tim Holtz Compass and Splatters Stencil.

I used a Prima stamp for the script on the post card and the round Journaling Chipboard that I used over the photo. From the same package, I used the small chipboard pieces for the centers of my Prima flowers, which were misted and sprayed first. I also stamped the date on the chipboard tag.

I finished it up with some ribbons, and hand-stitching!

Love this beautiful life ~ Inspirational # 128

Since anything goes for this week's Inspirational #128, hosted by Lynda, for Red Rubber Inspirationals, I decided to scrap this photo of Fanny Bridge, in Tahoe City, for a few other challenges as well.

I was instantly drawn to these beautiful, summer, colors used for the July Design Seeds Challenge @ Scrapbook.com!

My design inspiration came from this fabulous Sketch # 118 from Sketchabilities!

I got messy with some mixed media for category 1, for the July Four Categories Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. I started by smearing gesso on the background, creating little waves with a plastic fork, and then spraying over it with some Glimmer Mists, (Bahama Blue and Bubble Light Green) and Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray (Tibetan Poppy Teal). Then I tore around the edges of the white brick paper, (KaiserCraft  ~BaseCoat) and painted them a green color that I mixed myself. I used my sewing machine to create the wavy border, and for the butterfly antennae, which I printed from Swirlydoos. From Red Rubber Designs, I stamped Tree Silhouettes along the top of the photo.

I made the frame on the bottom, sprayed it with some mists, and then added Ranger Verdigris Embossing powder. I used Ranger seafoam white embossing powder on the So Splattered stamps. The Script Background was inked with Burnt Umber Palette Ink. I used Mini Bet to stamp Fanny Bridge, Tahoe City, and CA.

Enjoy your weekend!

Market Street ~ Ashbury Heights 2 Pager ~ FotoBella DT

I love the beautiful, new collection, Market Street ~ Ashbury Heights, by My Mind's Eye, from FotoBella! Even though I've probably never used black in an Easter layout before, I think it works well here with the papers. These photos were taken in 2013, in front of my parents' house.

This is my take on last month's 2 Page Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

I started by punching the striped paper and lacing it up with black string. Then I hand-stitched the red and pink along the edges. The oval and banner tag under the bottom left photo, came from the Decorative Brads, which I also used on the right. I used a chipboard flower to go over the great quote that I got in the Mixed Bag.

I used the Decorative Tape along the bottom of the photos. The brad that I used on the right, is attached to Journal Card Packs, and the aqua one was stamped with a Prima stamp. The big pink flower was a leftover that I previously made, and is what inspired the other flowers that I made using my Easter Flower Tutorial and some mists.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog!

Birthday Blooms

As soon as  I saw this month's mood board at Scrap Around the World, I knew immediately that I wanted to scrap this photo of the flowers that my Sister sent me for my last birthday.

Here's the bright and summery mood board, where all my inspiration started. I used black and white twine around the middle of the doily, which was an old coaster that I got from my Grandma, to mimic the striped straws. All of the colors and flowers were also inspired by these images.

The design inspiration came from this awesome sketch from Page Drafts.

I recycled an old clear gift bag with yellow daises on it to create the background, which I cut into 3" strips. I used some gesso, Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray, and the Texturized Stencil from The Crafters Workshop, to go over the strips, and then hand-stitched the zigzags in between them. I stamped the grey strip, Birthday, the striped border around the banner pieces, and embossed the two black and white flowers, coloring the centers yellow with Prismacolor Markers.

For the June Four Categories Challenge @ Scrapbook.com, I added some cardboard for Category 1 behind the photo. For the twist I sprayed the white cardboard with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray (Yellow Rose of Texas), and went over it with a glossy black paint. The butterflies were printed years ago from Swiryldoos. Of course I had to add the little happy face card that came with the flowers.

Here's what I wrote on the inside.
