Embossed Butterfly Card

This embossed butterfly card would work in ANY color combination, and has a great textured background made from tissue paper and specialty threads!

To start with, I adhered white tissue paper to a piece of white cardstock using Ranger Multi Medium Gloss. I went over it with the gloss, added 3 strands of green, blue, and silver specialty threads, and crossed them to make an X, while curving the pieces as I glued them. You can add as many threads as you want, with no sewing required!

After drying and trimming around the edges, I simply sprinkled it with Lindy's Gang Magical Shaker (Bavarian Blue), sprayed it with water, and let it do it's magic! Then I embossed the Kaisercraft Buttefly Stamp from the Pen & Ink Collection with Emerald Creek (Midnight Sky) Embossing Powder, also used around the card base, and on the bottom half of the sentiment. The top part of the sentiment was embossed with EC (Topiary Green) Embossing Powder. Finally, I painted the butterfly with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Afternoon Delight Denim and Cathedral Pines Green) and curled up the wings.

Thanks for your visit and hope you're doing well!

Congrats 2020 Card

Unfortunately, like so many others in the class of 2020, my son won't be having a graduation ceremony, so I wanted his card to be extra special!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #537 at Mojo Monday!

To make the background, I smooshed some Lindy's Gang Sprays (Afternoon Delight Denim and Cathedral Pines Green) together onto a piece of white cardstock. After drying, I used a die cut circle as a mask, sprayed around it with the same colors, and added touches and splatters of Distress Spray Stain (Brushed Pewter). Then I embossed the stitched circles with Emerald Creek Embossing Powders (Midnight Sky and Burmese Jade), also used on the star and edges. Congrats was done with some old chipboard letters covered with black gesso and embossed with EC (Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powder, giving it some awesome shine! The rest of the sentiment was done with some Thickers.

Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) was also embossed around the card base, made from grey cardstock, and to the star.

Thanks for looking, and congrats to all of the classes of 2020!

Aquamarine Birthday Card

Aquamarine is the official birthstone for March, and the inspiration for this card, made for my Dad, and the Aquamarine Challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog!

The top layer was smooshed with Dylusion's Paints (Vibrant Turquoise, Calypso Teal, and White Linen) onto white cardstock. The bottom was done with the same colors, but with (Black Marble) instead of (White Linen) to create depth.

A Stamperia Stencil was used to create the chains with black gesso through it, also applied to the edges and Tim Holtz metal cogs/gears. Then it all got covered with Prima (Red) Rust Paste.

I also used the Rust Paste on a recycled piece of black fruit netting, which looks so cool!

The embossed cogs/gears were stamped with the Tick Tock Stamp from the Artistic Stamper onto black cardstock, and embossed with Emerald Creek (Chunky Rust) Baked Texture. At the last minute I remembered that I had these aquamarine jewels, which made all the difference.

Finally, I embossed the sentiment with Emerald Creek Boho Blends (Wrought Iron) Embossing Powder.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

Grungy 18th Birthday Card

Since my son turned 18 today, I had to grunge up his card, and had a lot of fun doing so!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #596 at Sketch Saturday, which I made horizontal.

I started by coloring the background with Lindy's Gang (Sassy Sapphire) Magical, (Bratwurst Brown) Magical Shaker, and (Tiffany Lou Blue and Marigold Yellow Orange) Sprays. Then I applied Prima Black Gesso to the Tim Holtz (Dot Fade) Stencil. Before attaching the silver eyelets, I embossed them with LG (Sassy Sapphire) Embossing Powder, also used along the card edges.

The other embellishments are made from chipboard and paper clay using the Finnabair (Mechanica) Mould, and given a coat of black gesso.

To rust them up, I applied Prima Rust Pastes (Brown and Red), and Patina Effect Pastes (Blue and Mint Green).

The sentiment was embossed with Lindy's Gang (Sassy Sapphire) EP over a strip of chalkboard washi tape.

The other washi tape is from the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection.

Hello Baby Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Hello 2020! My first post of the year is this card featuring some stencil work and stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

I started by applying white gesso to the Tim Holtz (Plaid) Stencil. Then I painted it with Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers (Stormy Silver and Bavarian Blue) and Spray (Afternoon Delight Denim), giving it some highlights with Prima Marketing Metallique Wax (Old Silver). The stitched embossing was done with LG (Lapis Lazuli Blue Gold) Embossing Powder.

To the card base, I applied white gesso to the Tim Holtz (Holiday Knit) Stencil.

The sentiment was embossed with the Savvy Sayings Stamp onto a leftover tag that I had previously cut.

Finally, I popped up the Rocking Chair that I stamped using permanent blue ink, and embossed with LG (Clearly Clear) EP.

Thanks for stopping by!

Teal and Copper Birthday Card

I just LOVE teal and copper together, as shown on this card, colored with Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers, Spray, and Embossing Powders!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #223 at Feeling Sketchy.

The background was stamped with the Salvage District Prima Stamp, before adding white gesso to the TCW (Mini Raven Mosaic) Stencil. After drying, I spritzed it with some water, and added Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers (Guten Tag Teal and Aged Copper) along with Treasure Island Aqua Spray. Then I went over the stencil work with Metallique Wax (Rich Copper).

The clock was stamped with the Tick Tock Stamp from The Artistic Stamper, and embossed with Lindy's Cleopatra's Copper and Midnight Copper Embossing Powders, also used on the brad and sentiment. The clock hands were embossed with LG Black Forest Black EP.

For the Cup of Tea for your Art Challenge at A Vintage Journey, I used a cup of hot tea, which I never drink anyways (lol), to lightly dye the natural twine wrapped around the clock, the card edges, and the butterfly, where I also painted some Guten Tag Teal Magical Shaker. The body and antennae was embossed with LG Cleopatra's Copper EP.

I finished it up with some small copper rocks and shells.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lavender Lindy's Card

Hello again! I hope you're enjoying the weekend. Even though it's been snowing/raining here in Reno, the card I just made is all ready for Spring!

The soft, muted colors were inspired by the March Color Challenge at Lindy's Gang

Seeing the book from the moodboard, I decided to collage torn strips from an old dictionary to a piece of white cardstock with clear gesso. Then I adhered some lace and flowers, covered it all with Prima Marketing White Gesso, some touches of Prima Marketing Texture Paste (Platinum Crackle), and waited for everything to dry. Once it did, the fun part began by painting with my Lindy's Gang Sprays (Sea Mint Green, Landlubber Green Vintage, Pop Rock Purple, Long John's Silver Vintage, and Black Orchid Silver) revealing a gorgeous palette with fabulous shimmer.

Since I have a container practically bursting with tissue papers, and for the Pass the Tissues, Please! Challenge at Frilly and Funkie, I fussy cut the purple flowers and adhered them with Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel.

The wood planks were stamped after collaging torn pieces of white tissue paper with the Prima Marketing Finnabair Trust the Magic Stamp. Then I did some hand-stitching through all of the layers, aside from the card base.

My new Prima Marketing Mica Flakes (Granite) were perfect for this project, scattered among the roses!

The sentiment was a left over piece that I had previously cut with my Cricut Expression. Since it was red, I covered it with white gesso, painted it with (Black Orchid Silver) Spray and (Black Black Forest Black) Magical Shaker, and added black gesso to Thank You. Then I embossed over it with Queen Sheba's Silver EP, also used along the edges of the card base.

Thanks for looking!

Green Best Wishes Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

My parents recently got their genealogy results done, and found out that my Dad has a little Irish in him, which we never knew. He's also battling cancer, and just had his 3rd stroke, so I wanted his birthday card to be extra special. So I combined some of my Red Rubber Designs stamps with some gesso, sprays, and embossing powders to create this lucky card full of love and hope!

The first thing I did was to make the lake from white gesso, using a palette knife to create ripples. Then I colored it and the background with some Lindy's Sprays (Cathedral Pines Green, Frosty Forest Green, Freaky Frankenlime, Ocean Breeze Blue, and Tibetan Poppy Teal). I added a few more layers of spray to the water, followed by Prima Art Alchemy Paints (Mermaid Sparkle and Magical Pond), and clear embossing powder. Along the edges of the lake, I adhered some green glitter.

The trees were inked in black, with some embossed with Lindy's Gang (Angel Wings Peacock) EP using the Tree Silhouettes and Mountain Scenery Stamps.

The shamrocks were stamped and embossed with the Celtic Images Stamp, with some rhinestones added to the centers. The gold embossing was done with Ranger (Gold Tinsel). Then I embossed the sentiment with the Sophisticated Sentiments Stamp using Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) EP.

Thanks for visiting, and get these stamps and more at Red Rubber Designs!
