Life of the Party Tag ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Inspiration can come in many ways, and a peacock feather was mine for this tag I made for the Red Rubber Designs Design Team, featuring the Life of the Party Unmounted Stamp!

I started with a Tim Holtz #8 Manila Tag and colored it with Distress Spray Stains. Then I used the same colors with a paintbrush to color the Life of the Party Stamp that I embossed with glitter onto white cardstock. After adding sequins, I popped it up for dimension.

Then I added a border along the bottom with the Fanciful Vintage Unmounted Stamp Set, also embossed with glitter onto teal cardstock.

To really make the colors pop, I finished all of the edges with black embossed glitter.

Brick & Rose Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing a Thank You Card that I made with some stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

The bricks were made from a Prima stencil and gesso, and colored with Distress Spray Stains (Vintage Photo and Antique Linen). Once dry, I added some Distress Embossing Powder (Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy) on top for some gritty texture. Then I tore and machine stitched the side edges.

I did a lot of fussy-cutting with the roses, stamped with the Charcoal Flowers Cling Mounted Stamp Set, and colored with sprays. Then I arranged them around the gold frame, embossed onto black cardstock with the Fanciful Vintage Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set.

To mimic the bricks in the background, I tore around the edges of the stamped and paper pieced Rose Wine Labels, and popped it up for more dimension. The sentiment fit perfectly inside, and was stamped with the Savvy Sayings Unmounted Stamp Set.

Thank you for your visit, and shop Red Rubber Designs for all of these stamps and more!

Inspirational #147 ~ Repeat Yourself

This old photo of my grandparents is really special to me, so I made this page for my Aunt, who has sacrificed so much of her time and money to care for my sick grandfather in her home. My grandma passed away when I was twelve, and I know she's just been waiting for him. My Aunt looks so much like my grandma in this photo! This is my example for Inpsirational #147, which  I'm hosting this week, and want to see any stamped image at least three times.

I started this page with some kraft cardstock, which I misted in various colors. Then I stamped Aged Ornaments  onto different colors of tissue paper, and fussy cut them all out. The black scroll reminds me of the black iron gate they had around their house, so I used it eight times, even though I covered one of them up with my flowers. Then I decoupaged them along the right, using the zigzag stitch from Running Stitches in between the scroll work, which I embossed in black.

To make the sheet music, I used the Vintage Background stamp six times on each sheet of white cardstock, which I inked with Distress Inks to give it an aged look. The only stamp that I used once, is the sentiment on the top left, using Fanciful Vintage. You can get all of these awesome stamps for a great deal at Red Rubber Designs

Most of my inspiration came from this beautiful mood board, used for this month's challenge @ Scrap Around the World.

The colors remind me of my grandma's garden, as she loved working in her garden, and always had flowers in bloom. Obviously I used the sheet music, and the lace, which I misted with some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. I was also inspired by the window, which is in my photo, and the base of my design with the stamp work. My grandma made the doily behind the large pink flower, so I had to include it, along with the pink button that once belonged to her.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Misted Mother's Day Flower Tutorial ~ Inspirational #118

I had so much fun playing with my mists and sprays on my last Easter Flower Tutorial, that I did another version using the Serenade Cartridge for the Cricut Expression, on this card that I made  for my Mother-in-law! We're celebrating Mom's this week at Red Rubber Inspirationals, with Inspirational #118, hosted by Kendra, to make a Mother's Day card with a sentiment of Mom, Mother, or Mother's Day stamped on it. Be sure to check out the beautiful creations the Inspiration Team came up with.

I started with some white cardstock and Distress Inks. Then I used water directly on my Well Defined Backgrounds stamp. You can't tell that's it text but it left a cool design. I did the same thing with my Aged Ornaments stamp on the top right, then used Belle Rose Palette Ink, and stamped it on the right side, slightly overlapping the water stamp. Then I added the cameo, which were clip on earrings, that once belonged to my Mother-in-law's Mom. I was so lucky to inherit a lot of her old jewelry, among other things! Using the same pink ink, I stamped the row on the bottom right with Fanciful Vintage stamps. I stamped HAPPY on the orange ribbon using Sophisticated Sentiments,  and Orangerie Palette Ink. Mother's Day was stamped with Belle Rose using Contemporary Greetings, all from Red Rubber Designs.

I took my inspiration from this photo used for the May Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com. I just LOVE these colors!!

This is also my take on  Cardabilities, sketch #98.

To make the flowers cut flower #2 on the Serenade Cricut cartridge out of white cardstock.
2 at 1 1/2"
1 at 1 1/4
1 at 1"
1 at 3/4

Then mist your flowers in one to three different colors of mists or sprays. More than three might come out a little muddy. For this demonstration I made the light orange flower on the right side of the large cream Prima flower, by using Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays (Hog's Wart Orange and Clam Bake Beige). Crumple and open, leaving the smallest one slightly closed for your center bud.

As usual, layer and glue your flower together, starting with the two larger flowers on bottom, and finishing with the smallest in the center. Here's a closer look.

Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoyed the weekend!

Inspirational #117 ~ Postage Due

Happy Thursday! Time for a new challenge @ Red Rubber Inspirationals, with Inspirational #117, Postage Due, hosted by Mary Anne. This week's theme was the perfect opportunity to make this wedding card for my baby sister, who is getting married tomorrow. I wish I could be there!

I started by misting the background and flowers with some Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays (Treasure Island Aqua and Clam Bake Beige). I did a lot of stamping on here with the following stamps:

All of the gold was embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. The rest of the stamping was done with Versa Magic Inks (Jumbo Java and Oasis Green).

This is also my entry for the April Card Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook.com using sketch #1.
