National Homemade Cookie Day ~ FotoBella DT

Grab a glass of milk because today is National Homemade Cookie Day! I love cookies so much my mom used to call me a cookie monster when I was young. Lol! But now I only like homemade ones, so I decided to scrap a photo of some lemon sugar cookies that I made, using the Stamperia Lemons Stencil and the Bo Bunny Serendipity Paper Bundle from FotoBella.com.

The title was cut with my Cricut Expression, and given a coat of Yellow Stickles to match the sugar on the cookies. Then I used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink with my Blending Tool around the edges of the background leaf paper, before machine stitching it.

The leaf border on the green paper was stamped with the Prima Marketing Garden Fable Stamp using permanent green ink.

Then I applied Prima Marketing White Gesso to the Finnabair Doily Stencil, smooshed with some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, to place my cookies on.

I also applied Prima Marketing White Gesso to the Stamperia Lemons Stencil, let it dry, and reapplied the stencil again to color with Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Paints (Lemon Zest, Pure Sunshine, Fresh Lime, Cut Grass, Dirty Martini, Black Marble, and Melted Chocolate).

Finally, I tore a page from an old dictionary with some lemon words on it, and inked the edges again with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. Then I gave it a light coat of white gesso, adding the flower from my stash.

Thanks for looking, and happy National Homemade Cookie Day!

Memorial Day Layout ~ FotoBella DT

Never forget the men and women who have died, while bravely serving our country's armed forces! This Memorial Day, I'm honoring my late uncle, who served in the Army, with this page that I scrapped of him, featuring Prima Marketing's Rust Pastes from FotoBella.com.

My design inspiration came from Sketch #2, used for the May Monthly Sketch Challenge at Scrapbook.com.

I started with a piece of black cardstock, and TCW Chickenwire stencil that I applied Prima Marketing Rust Paste (Camouflage Set) to, using all three colors from the set. Then I assembled the postcards and papers, cut and torn from Stamperia's Around the World 12 X 12 Paper Pad, and inked along the edges with Distress Inks.

The key, chains, gears, and cogs were made with Prima Marketing's Black Gesso applied to the Stamperia Steampunk Mechanism Thick Stencil. Once dry, I used my fingers to rub on some Prima Marketing Metallique Waxes (Bronze Age, Rich Copper, Brushed Iron, and Old Silver), followed by Prima's Red and Brown Rust Pastes.

The same steps were used on the large circle that I glued twine to, before coating with black gesso. Then I did some stamping and fussy cutting with Prima Marketing's Finnabair Stamps, adding Rust Pastes to one of the gears, and popping it up over the circle.

The buttons belonged to my late grandma, some covered with Rust Pastes, along with the brads and anchor on the photo, that's finishing the hand-stitching.

Thanks for looking, and check out all of the GREAT Memorial Day Sales going on at FotoBella.com!

Fiesta Striped Painted Blanket Tutorial ~ FotoBella DT

Happy National Scrapbook Day and Cinco de Mayo! I'm back with a tutorial, inspired by these two holidays, featuring Dyan Reaveley's Dylusion's Paints from FotoBella.com.

**********************************
    Supplies:

White Cardstock
1/4" Masking or Artist's Tape
Tim Holtz Stripes Stencil
Tim Holtz Arrows Stencil

Directions:

1. Cut a piece of white cardstock to measure 10" X 12". Place masking or artist's tape, 1.5" from the top. Then place another strip an inch from the first one, alternating between 1.5" and 1" all the way down. If you're using masking tape, like I did here, make sure to get rid of some of the stickiness first, by placing onto clothing or carpet, so it doesn't rip the paper when peeling off.

2. Use fingers to blend Dylusions Paints onto each masked strip. From the top, I started with Cut Grass, blending into Fresh Lime. On the next strip, I used After Midnight, blending into Calypso Teal. Then Postbox Red, blending into Tangerine Dream, and ending with Squeezed Orange, blending into Lemon Zest. Repeat the colors again, starting with the green strip, until finishing up with the red at the bottom.

3. Carefully remove the tape, and don't worry if your lines aren't crisp. As you can see, mine weren't.

4. Apply black gesso to the Tim Holtz Stripes Stencil mainly over the white stripes, and lightly dab the backside of the stencil everywhere else.

5. Apply black gesso to the Tim Holtz Arrows Stencil onto white cardstock, and fussy-cut them, adhering two to the top, and one on the left side of the page. Hand-stitch the sides with white embroidery thread.

6. Apply black gesso to the center of the page before placing photo. Adhere buttons using black and white embroidery threads.

7. Use finger to blend Black Marble Dylusions Paint into White Linen Dylusions Paint, over Bo Bunny's Lasercut Chipboard spelling Celebrate.

8. A couple of fun die cuts finished off this page, including the blue confetti piece that I painted with After Midnight Dylusions Paint.

Prima Marketing French Riviera ATC's ~ FotoBella DT

Have you tried any of the fabulous pastes from Prima Marketing? There's so many great textures and effects you can add to any project, and they clean up so easily! So I made a set of ATC's with some Patina Effect Paste and Rust Paste Camouflage Set, featuring some French Riviera Stamps and the Shell and Anchor Stencil from FotoBella.com.

I started by coating some playing cards with Heavy White Gesso, and then spraying with Broken China and Cracked Pistachio Distress Spray Stains. With a Dabbing Brush, I applied Patina Effect Paste to the Shell and Anchor Stencil, using all three colors from the set. Then I added sand to the bottom of the shell and anchor cards, with Dusty from the Rust Paste Camouflage Set, and really love the results!

All of the stamping was done with Ranger's Jet Black Archival Ink, using the French Riviera 4 X 6 Cling and French Riviera #2 Stamps. I decided NOT to color my stamping, for a black and white effect with the ocean colors, except for a few touches on the card below, that I painted with Tarnished Brass Distress Spray Stain. Then I popped up some of the fussy-cut pieces for some dimension.

The bubbles were created with the same stencil using white gesso, topped with a coat of Sprinkled Sugar Stickles for some sparkle.

Each card is backed with a piece of torn white cardstock, and the edges colored with Broken China and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks. Finally, I hand-stitched the twine to the netting, that I recycled from some fruit.

Thanks for looking, and shop FotoBella.com for these supplies and more!

Serendipity Art Journal ~ FotoBella DT

Happy International Scrapbooking Day! The FotoBella Design Team is celebrating today with some fabulous projects found here, with supplies from FotoBella.com. I made another page in my art journal using Bo Bunny's Serendipity Collection, and some mixed media, including Distress Spray Stains.

I started by layering some papers from the Ephemera, along with a torn dictionary page, to the center. Then I applied Prima Marketing's Heavy White Gesso to the background using Dylusions Diamond in the Rough Stencil with Bo Bunny's Palette Knife. Once dry, I spritzed it with some Distress Spray Stains (Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, and Fossilized Amber). After that dried, I stamped some text with Prima Marketing's Garden Fable Stamp.

Then I used my fingers to apply White Linen Dylusions Paint around the bible quote from the Ephemera to create a cloud.

I took out my Serendipity Noteworthy and Chipboard Packs to add the birds, butterflies, nest, and banner.

The rest of the stamping was embossed with Emerald Creek Onyx Frost EP. Above the banner I used Bo Bunny's Stitches Stamp and Prima Marketing's Garden Fable Stamp for the sprig of leaves.

It's faint, but under the nest of eggs, I used the doily from Prima Marketing's Vintage Emporium Doily Stencil with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow EP.

I also used the Vintage Emporium Doily Stencil to make the cross with Emerald Creek Onyx Frost EP.

Go Red for Women ~ FotoBella DT

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. So in honor of this day, I created a page in my art journal for the FotoBella FotoBella Design Team using goodies from FotoBella.com.

I started by masking a heart, cut from a piece of lace, with Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain. Then I stamped along the heart with Prima Marketing's Garden Fable Stamp, using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink, colored with Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain. The title was made with some older Bo Bunny stickers, with a coat of red Stickles applied to "red".

I also applied red Stickles to the butterflies, stamped with Bo Bunny's Flutter Stamp.

Prima Marketing's Princess Zara Stamp was embossed with Ranger Rainbow Sparkle EP, and inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink onto heavy white cardstock.  Her skin was colored with Distress Spray Stains (Antique Linen, Wild Honey, with just a tad of Vintage Photo). Then I used Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain, Candied Apple Distress Ink,  Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain, Black Soot Distress Ink, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to color her in with Prima Marketing's Watercolor Brush/Pen Set. Finally, I used red Stickles again, to add some sparkle to the flower centers.

Simple Stories Vintage Blessings "Thankful" LO ~ FotoBella DT

Happy New Year! I'm back with my first project for 2018 featuring the Simple Stories Vintage Blessings Collection from FotoBella.com. I was feeling nostalgic, so I scrapped this older photo of me and my son for the FotoBella Design Team.

The heart was pieced together with papers from the Vintage Blessings Collection Kit, with the end strips cut with zigzag scissors to create the bottom layer. For some dimension, I colored the paper edges with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. Then I did some hand-stitching for that quilted look, adding "Thankful" from the Chipboard

Before adhering the heart, I applied a light coat of Prima Marketing's Heavy White Gesso to the background paper in a heart shape, to give it a faded, vintage look.  Within the heart, I added a few strips of the Vintage Blessings Grateful Washi Tape

Finally, I popped up this die from the Bits & Pieces

Simple Stories Vintage Blessings Autumn Layout ~ FotoBella DT

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I originally printed this 8" X 10" photo, that I took in South Lake Tahoe, for a different project that luckily didn't work out, because I love how it looks here with the Simple Stories Vintage Blessings Collection from FotoBella.com.

The quote was cut from the Vintage Blessings Collection Kit, and inked along the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink, using Ground Espresso Distress Ink on the paper behind it. Then I added the acorn from the Bits & Pieces, and the Chipboard flower on top.

As I looked through my Bits & Pieces, I came up with the title, highlighting "Autumn" against the yellow texture paste that I applied behind it, with my Bo Bunny Palette Knife.

The branch and tab that I stamped with the date, is also included with the Bits & Pieces

With my Blending Tool, I applied Wild Honey Distress Ink to the edges of the striped paper, adding the tree sticker that comes in the Vintage Blessings Collection Kit to the corner.

Thanks for looking, and shop FotoBella.com to pick up this beautiful fall collection, and so much more.
