"Time for Tea" at Try it on Tuesday ~ Guest Designer

I was so excited and honored to make top 5 for the first challenge (A Tissue Challenge) of the year at Try it on Tuesday! I love their blog and always find so much inspiration there! So of course I accepted when I was invited to be a Guest Designer for them. As soon as I found out the theme was "Time for Tea" I knew I was going to make something for my mom who's a tea lover, unlike her coffee loving daughter. Lol!

I started the background with some sprays, and applied White Prima Gesso to the bottom half with the Tim Holtz "Lace" Stencil.  Once dry, I sprayed it again randomly using the Tim Holtz "Splatters" Stencil, even over the gesso, Then I used the "Lace" Stencil again to lightly apply White Linen Dylusions Paint. After everything was completely dry, I stamped over the top half with my new Prima Marketing Salvage District #2 Stamp, and embossed and fussy-cut the rest with some old ones.

I was actually lucky enough to receive boxes and bags full of stamps and scrapping supplies from my husband's co worker awhile ago, and the teacup and flower stamps were among them. It was my first time using them, stamped with Ranger's Jet Black Archival Ink, and colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays (Cathedral Pines Green, Witch's Potion Purple, and Afternoon Delight Denim) and Distress Spray Stains (Wilted Violet and Brushed Pewter) using a paintbrush. Then I gave the teacup a coat of Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium Crazing, which produced this beautiful antiqued porcelain effect, which I also used on the clocks. After fussy-cutting it, I popped it up over a strip of sheer ribbon.

All of the embossing was done with Ranger's Silver Embossing Powder, and the clocks were paper-pieced with strands of pearls going through them.

Then I distressed and machined stitched the edges, and hand-stitched the butterfly antennae using a metallic silver thread.

Says "Tea Time" to me! I'd love to see your take over at Try it on Tuesday! Thanks again for having me!!

Spring Bouquet Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

I'm back again with another Thank You card, this time featuring the Spring Bouquet stamp from Red Rubber Designs!

And it was a happy coincidence that my color palette just so happened to match this month's Color Challenge @ Lindy's Stamp Gang!

The colors are so light and soft, so it's kinda hard to tell, but I used four LSG sprays on the cream background (Cotton Candy Pink, Tiffany's Blue, Violaceous Violet, and Treasure Island Aqua). Then I used a paintbrush with the same color sprays for the background of my stamped image, using Sidewalk Chalk to color the vase. The flowers and wood grain were then colored with Distress Inks.  For the sentiment, I used the Savvy Sayings stamp, embossed with LSG Purely White Embossing Powder. The doily was sprayed with Cotton Candy Pink, and the edges were colored with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

Then I punched and layered three of my papers for the Layer it Up Challenge @ Frilly and Funkie, adding even more layers with my stamped image and doily, which I stitched through with my sewing machine, along with the edges of the wood grain paper. To finish it off I added some dots of Liquid Pearls (Petal Pink) along the punching, and some fiber tied in a bow.

Thanks for looking, and enjoy your weekend!

Celtic Thank You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Happy weekend! I just got done using the Celtic Images stamp, from Red Rubber Designs, to make this St. Patrick's Day/Thank You card for my Sister and Irish Brother-in-law. Hopefully they're not reading this, as I haven't sent it out yet. Lol!

My design inspiration came from this beautiful sketch # 139 @ Feeling Sketchy!

And my color inspiration came from this gorgeous color combo for the Feb. Inspirational Card Challenge @ Scrapbook.com.

I started by spritzing and smooshing some sprays and Distress Inks onto white cardstock, for the Splatter, Spritz, and Smoosh Challenge @ Stamps and Stencils. Then I embossed the Celtic cross, Thank You, and edges of the card and tag, with Lindy's Stamp Gang (Queen Sheba's Silver) embossing powder. The four leaf clovers were stamped with Giverney Green Palette Ink and colored with Distress Ink (Lucky Clover). For a little sparkle, I applied a Wink Of Stella (Clear) to them, along with the cross.

Half of the rose was sprayed, then covered with Eucalyptus Stickles, which I also used randomly on the background. After making the pleat in the corner, by wetting it first with water, which I also did for the edges, I added some machine stitching using two different greens. Then I sprinkled the card with some buttons, using different colors of threads to attach them.

After some more spritzing and smooshing to make the tag, I added a silver eyelet, and tied it off with some green ribbons.

Inspirational #207 ~ So Sentimental

It's time to get sentimental this week, with my new Inspirational #207, at Red Rubber Inspirationals! The theme is to stamp any kind of sentiment on your project. I hope you'll join us!
Here's the sample that I made.

I lightly misted the woodgrain paper and stamped the background using Vintage Background and Burnt Umber Palette Ink. Then I embossed the rest of my stamping using Ranger's Verdigris embossing powder, which I also used on the brads and copper button.  I made the flowers using Medallions, the border using the For Everything stamp, and the sentiment with the Thank You stamp. Then I stitched the lace on and added the trim. I got even more sentimental by adding the buttons and stone that the trim is through, because it once belonged to my MIL's mother, and this card is for her. I love adding special touches like that!

Make sure to stop by Red Rubber Designs for a fabulous selection of stamps at great prices!

Inspirational #109 ~ Heartfelt Thanks

Here's the sample card that I made for Inspirational #109 hosted by Mary Anne, to make a thank you card. It was perfect timing as I needed to make one anyways for my in laws.

I started with some kraft cardstock, and a tag and papers from the Willoughby collection. I inked the kraft paper with Distress Inks (crushed olive and frayed burlap), and then used victorian vines on it with Palette Ink (burnt umber). On the tag I used savvy sayingsspeckle background, and hope perches. The flowers were stamped and layered using medallions and Palette Ink (burnt umber), then colored with Memento (lady bug). I finished it off with machine stitching and these buttons that I inherited from my husband's Grandmother.

Thanks for stopping by!
