Wish Tag

This year hasn't started off very productive for me, at least creatively, but happy to wrap up the month with this tag.

The January Mini Challenge at More Than Words was to use the word WISH, inspiring the quote and stars. I started with a Tim Holtz Manila Tag, and used my mini blending tool to apply After Midnight and London Blue Dylusions Paints. Then I stamped the corners with an older Bo Bunny stamp dipped into Broken China Distress Oxide Ink. The rest of the stamping was embossed with Ranger's Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder, and the stitches done with Bo Bunny's Stitches Stamp.

The hole in the tag, chipboard star, and WISH were covered with Prima's Patina Effects Paste (Blue, Mint Green, and Brass), applied with a stipple brush in that order, and finished with some more Gold Tinsel EP. Then I sprinkled and adhered some gold and clear sequins.

I tied it off with a piece of blue lace, colored on the ends with Blueprint Sketch Distress Spray Stain, and some gold ribbon.

Thanks for looking!

Snowed In

No I didn't get snowed in, but captured this photo of my parents neighborhood at the time, in Truckee,  CA after a snow storm.

I was so inspired by Lindy's Stamp Gang January Challenge, that I even printed out the car from the mood board to include on my page!

The car sits on some snow made from white gesso and Lindy's Purely White Embossing Powder, embedded with some sticks I gathered outside. Next to it, is a border made with Prima Marketing's Heavy White Gesso applied to the Tim Holtz Holiday Knit Stencil. Once dry, I embossed it with LSG Hyacinth Blue Jade EP.

My design inspiration came from the beautiful January #144 Sketch found @ Sketch N Scrap

After applying white gesso to a diamond stencil and letting it dry, I sprinkled some LSG Flat Magical (Danny Zuko's Denim) with an old toothbrush, and sprayed it with water. While it was still wet I spritzed the edges with Starburst Spray (Afternoon Delight Denim).  The title was made from black stickers covered with some Prima rust pastes, and embossed along the top with LSG Purely White Embossing Powder.

This was my first time using Prima's Rust Pastes, and I absolutely LOVED working with them!  I have to admit, I was a little scared seeing them on my stipple brush and gear stencil, thinking it wouldn't come off, or be really hard to remove, but it easily washed off with warm water. I started with Brown Rust Effect Paste, then Red Rust, finished with a mix of Blue and Mint Green Patina Effect Paste. Before using the stencil though, I spritzed behind it with LSG Starburst Spray ( Fuzzy Navel Peach). Then I embossed every snowflake once from the Bo Bunny Snowflakes Stamp Set with LSG Hyacinth Blue Jade, Byzantine Bronze, and Queen Sheba's Silver Embossing Powders. I finished it off with some buttons and machine-stitching around the edges.

     Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Stories Vintage Blessings "Thankful" LO ~ FotoBella DT

Happy New Year! I'm back with my first project for 2018 featuring the Simple Stories Vintage Blessings Collection from FotoBella.com. I was feeling nostalgic, so I scrapped this older photo of me and my son for the FotoBella Design Team.

The heart was pieced together with papers from the Vintage Blessings Collection Kit, with the end strips cut with zigzag scissors to create the bottom layer. For some dimension, I colored the paper edges with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. Then I did some hand-stitching for that quilted look, adding "Thankful" from the Chipboard

Before adhering the heart, I applied a light coat of Prima Marketing's Heavy White Gesso to the background paper in a heart shape, to give it a faded, vintage look.  Within the heart, I added a few strips of the Vintage Blessings Grateful Washi Tape

Finally, I popped up this die from the Bits & Pieces
