Oh That Glow Layout

In less than a week I'm going to be an aunt again! I'm so excited, and scrapped this STUNNING photo of my little sis, taken by our very talented photographer cousin, Regina Marie

I knew the colors would be the perfect match for the February Color Challenge at Lindy's Gang.

The background started with torn strips of Prima Marketing (Golden Coast) papers, stamping, shells, twine, and cheesecloth, adhered with Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel. Then I added burlap and touches of white gesso, and colored it all with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Cosmopolitan Pink, Fuzzy Navel Peach, and Violaceous Violet), Magical (Sandra Dee Sepia) and Magical Shakers (Oom Pah Pah Pink, Bratwurst Brown, Grab A Guy Gold, and Polka Purple).

Along the bottom, I added some Finnabair Mini Art Stones, and Lindy's Gang Embossing Powders (Hollyhock Scarlet PlumAngel Wings Gold, and Byzantine Bronze). To highlight the stones, I went over them again with white gesso.

The diecut and chipboard letters on the left, are from the Bo Bunny (Sunshine Bliss) Collection. After covering the letters with white gesso, I painted them a few times with a mix of LG Magical (Sandra Dee Sepia) and Magical Shaker (Bratwurst Brown).

The GLOW Thickers were also covered with white gesso, and painted with LG (Grab A Guy GoldMagical Shaker and (Fuzzy Navel PeachSpray. Then I embossed them with LG (Angel Wings Gold) EP for some shine.

The DIY Petaloo Burlap Flowers were given light touches of white gesso, and painted with LG Sprays (Fuzzy Navel Peach and Cosmopolitan Pink) and Magical Shakers (Oom Pah Pah Pink, Grab A Guy Gold, and Polka Purple). Clear, frosted and pink beads were added to the centers to mimic sea glass.

I also stamped and fussy cut some of the flowers. The larger ones were embossed with Lindy's Gang (Hollyhock Scarlet Plum) EP, and the smaller ones were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink (Potting Soil) and embossed with LG (Clearly Clear) Embossing Powder.

I finished it up with some more beads scattered among the flowers and shells. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Grungy 18th Birthday Card

Since my son turned 18 today, I had to grunge up his card, and had a lot of fun doing so!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #596 at Sketch Saturday, which I made horizontal.

I started by coloring the background with Lindy's Gang (Sassy Sapphire) Magical, (Bratwurst Brown) Magical Shaker, and (Tiffany Lou Blue and Marigold Yellow Orange) Sprays. Then I applied Prima Black Gesso to the Tim Holtz (Dot Fade) Stencil. Before attaching the silver eyelets, I embossed them with LG (Sassy Sapphire) Embossing Powder, also used along the card edges.

The other embellishments are made from chipboard and paper clay using the Finnabair (Mechanica) Mould, and given a coat of black gesso.

To rust them up, I applied Prima Rust Pastes (Brown and Red), and Patina Effect Pastes (Blue and Mint Green).

The sentiment was embossed with Lindy's Gang (Sassy Sapphire) EP over a strip of chalkboard washi tape.

The other washi tape is from the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection.

Winter Moon Tag

Did you know that today is the Super Snow Moon? It will create a full moon that appears slightly larger than average, that I'm looking forward to seeing tonight. So I'm honoring the occasion with this tag!

I took inspiration from the February Mood Board at Art Daily Cafe.

With the theme being Haiga-Visual Poetry, a Japanese tradition, typically painted by haiku poets, and often accompanied by a haiku poem, I felt a little out of my element. I remember struggling with haiku's back in school, and honestly still do. So I found one instead that I printed by hand with black and white pens.

To start with, I stamped clear Finnabair stamps (Old Receipt, Solar and Lunar, and Gothic Book) along the whole tag with Archival (Jet Black) Ink, and covered it all with white tissue paper using Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel. Then I used a palette knife to go over parts of it with white gesso, and used black gesso along the edges, embossed with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. The trees were masked with Lindy's Gang (Blazing Black) Spray, and once dry, splattered with (Sidewalk Chalk) Spray.

The bird was a last minute decision stamped with the Finnabair (Old Receipt) Stamp, and embossed with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) Embossing Powder. To emboss the snowy sprig on the bottom left, I used Emerald Creek Rock Candy (Marshmallow) Embossing Powder.

An old stamp was embossed along the top, again with Emerald Creek (Onyx Frost) EP, and was the perfect spot for my moon, made from paper clay using the Finnabair (Stars and Moon) Mould.  It was painted with Art Alchemy Metallique Paints (White Pearl) and (Silver Moon), and the circle behind it with Distress Spray Stain (Candied Apple), also used for a couple of the journaling strips.

Because I couldn't decide between the white and red fibers, I just added both!

Thanks for looking, and don't forget to check out tonight's Super Snow Moon!

Purple Hearts and Flowers

Purple hearts and flowers adorn my latest art journal page, made with Dylusions Paints and embossed stamping!

I love an ombre effect, and mixed (White Linen) and (Laidback Lilac) Dylusions Paints at the bottom, blended into (Laidback Lilac), blended into a mix of (Laidback Lilac) with (Crushed Grape), and finished with (Crushed Grape) on top! Then I used the same colors with some stencils for the diamonds, circles, and alphas.

Dylusions Paints were also used to paint the flowers that were embossed with Emerald Creek Rock Candy (Marshmallow) Embossing Powder.

Emerald Creek Rock Candy (Java Plum) Embossing Powder was embossed onto white cardstock on the bottom heart.

Then I embossed (Java Plum) again, but stamped first with purple inks for the LOVE and HUGS hearts.

The XOXO heart was embossed with Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Lilac), and decorative scissors around each one created the scallops. Along the right I added some flowers from a magazine.

Thanks for looking, and wishing you an early Happy Valentine's!

The Magic of Winter

Every time it snows it does feel magical, as expressed in my latest art journal spread!

The background consists of many layers and techniques, such as masking, stencil work, embossed stamping, and Prima Platinum Crackle Texture Paste along the bottom. It also took lots of layers to color it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Tiffany Lou Blue, Brushed Nickel, Blue Hawaiian Blue, and Afternoon Delight Denim).

The snowflakes were embossed with the Bo Bunny Snowflakes Stamp using Ranger (Rainbow Sparkle) EP and Emerald Creek (Silver Sparkle, Midnight Sky, and Soft Fallen Snow) Embossing Powders.

I also used Emerald Creek (Midnight Sky) Embossing Powder to mask the titlework with some old alpha stickers.

All of the trees were fussy cut from the Glimmer Mist (Winter Trees) Stencil, and given texture with Prima Marketing Rust Pastes (Brown and Red) mixed with Dusty from the Camouflage Paste Set. Then I added snow with white gesso, embossed with Emerald Creek (Soft Fallen Snow).
