Grateful For This Day 2 Pager

It felt really good to finish this 2 pager for a family album I've been working on for my sister-in-law! These vintage photos of her and my husband's grandparents start with their wedding photo, which I centered in the fussy cut circle. The other photos are through the years celebrating their anniversary. I cut strips from the places and dates that were already written and labeled along with the photos, inking the edges with Distress Ink.

On the left side of the circle I included the wedding booklet that has their marriage certificate inside, along with a small envelope of rice. I didn't want to glue the book down, so I sewed some corner holders out of sheer, pink ribbon to hold it in. I used Bo Bunny's Floral Stamp to make the flowers, coloring them with Distress Inks to match the ones on the book. I got my design inspiration from the May 2 Page Sketch Challenge @ Scrapbook. com. using papers by Bo Bunny's The Avenues from FotoBella.

I fussy cut the bottom edge of the blue (Trellis)  paper and added some pearls to the ends.

Thanks for your visit!

Forever Young "Oahu" Layout ~ FotoBella DT

The bright, tropical colors in Bo Bunny's Forever Young I Want It All Bundle, from FotoBella, were just made for this photo that my sister took from her lanai when she was living in Hawaii.

I started by masking the polaroid from the Noteworthy pack onto the cloud paper that I got from the 12 X 12 Collection Pack with Black Soot Distress Ink. The pineapple, pink hibiscus diecut, and green paper with the title, also come in the Noteworthy pack. Then I angled the Chipboard  palm tree image over my masking, and added the Pistachio Burlap Flower from Petaloo. I just LOVE these new flowers, and the colors match this collection perfectly, so I also added the Fushia one on top!

The chevron paper was fussy cut, and then I outlined it with some black hand-stitching, extending the zigzag along the bottom. I added some Buttons on the corners, with some white yarn in between to mimic the clouds. Then I strung some black and white twine from my own stash through the banner buttons. To make the title, I used the Alpha Stickers, alternating the black and grey letters.

Thanks for looking!

Inspirational #221 ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

It's time to shape up, with Inspirational #221, at Red Rubber Inspirationals! I'm hosting this week and would love to see any type of stamped shape. I used circles for both of my examples, starting with this card that I made for a few other challenges as well.

This sketch at Viva La Verve was perfect to try the Bokeh effect for the first time for the May challenge at House of Cards!

I started with some white cardstock, and inked the background with yellow, black, and grey Distress Inks. Then I used a circle stencil with some white ink, and stamped the smaller circles using the Background Soup stamp. I used Circles of Love to emboss the silver dots, and for the buttons, which I popped up and added some brads to. The circles overlapping the image in the middle are cut from white and silver vellum. I used some grey ink to create the road, and stamped Tree Silhouettes along the sides, taking inspiration from this photo used for the May Stamping Challenge @ Scrapbook. com

For my next card I also used the Background Soup stamp, but with yellow paint, to create the small circles. All of the papers are from an older Bo Bunny (Flower Child) collection. I used Butterfly Flourish to stamp the butterfly and flourish. The butterfly was colored with Distress Inks and a coat of Yellow Stickles, which gave the wings a natural curl. Unfortunately, my sentiment got a little smudged, but it kinda goes with the distressed, shabby look I was going for, so I just left it alone. I stamped "Happy" using Sophisticated Sentiments, and "Mother's Day" using Contemporary Greetings

I finished it up with some more Stickles to the flower stickers, and flowers on the stamped flourish.

Thanks for your visit, and have a great day!

Forever Young Card ~ FotoBella DT

I'm back with another card to share using Bo Bunny's Forever Young I Want It All Bundle from FotoBella! This one was made with love for my brave, little, nephew, who's battling and conquering cancer right now. I wish we didn't live so far away!  He loves to play cards, so I included the ones that come in the Ephemera.

The green paper, ribbon, and arrow stamp that I used on top, also come in the Ephemera. I fussy cut the donuts from the back of the "Smile" paper, that comes in the 12 X 12 Collection Pack, and used the Alpha Stickers to spell "sending".  The envelope comes in the Layered Chipboard, and was just the right touch for this card. I cut "peace" off of the "Love & Hugs" Chipboard piece, and inked the edges with blue ink. You can't send love without some hearts, like the Chipboard ones that I used here. Have a great day!

Oahu Blue ~ Mixed Media Tissue Paper Background

I just LOVE the gorgeous teals and blues in this photo that my sister took of the Hawaiian coast! It gave me the perfect opportunity to get messy with my stamps and sprays.

This month's color challenge at Lindy's Stamp Gang really sets the mood for this photo.

I started this page by stamping the Script Background onto cream tissue paper using permanent black ink. Ranger's Archival Jet Black Ink works great, and is what I used!  Then I tore it into strips and used a spray adhesive to apply it to cream cardstock.  Next I used the Texturized Stencil from TCW with some gesso.

Once the gesso dried, I sprayed the whole background with some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. Starting at the bottom of the page, I used Clam Bake Beige and Treasure Island Aqua. Then working my up I used Tiffany's Blue, Delphinium Turquoise, Tibetan Poppy Teal, and Cotton Candy Pink on top. I wish you could see all of the beautiful shimmer that these sprays leave!

For my design inspiration I used sketch #138 from Sketchabilities!

All of the papers are some older Tim Holtz (Lost and Found), and the Heidi Swapp tags were a RAK from my friend Lisa. Thanks Lisa! Although they already had the misted look on them, I added some more Lindy's sprays to give them some shimmer. I used the Reinforcers stamp on the tags, embossing them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Midnight Pewter Embossing Powder. I also embossed the Fern Fronds and distressing around the photo with the Background Soup stamp set, all from Red Rubber Designs. You can really see the awesome texture that the Lindy's embossing powder leaves on these Alpha Thickers that I used to spell Oahu. I also used Thickers (Rainboots) to spell "blue" applying (Stream) Alcohol Ink to them.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Inspirational #219 ~ Red Rubber Inspirational Team

Give thanks with Inspirational #219, hosted by Lynda, for Red Rubber Inspirationals! I had a blast making this thank you card for an example!

My design inspiration came from this awesome sketch #122 at Cardabilities!

I started by stamping the bird with All things of nature onto a white circle. I colored it with Distress Inks and markers, using water to make the clouds in the background, and adding a small bead for the eye. Then I used the (Well Rounded) TCW stencil with some gesso to create the circles.Taking the colors from the May Card Challenge at Scrapbook.com, I sprayed some mists to it, and then stamped the black splatters with the So Splattered stamp. For the sentiment, I used Savvy Sayings, all from Red Rubber Designs

I finished it up with some machine stitching, and hand-stitching around the circle. I'm also entering this into challenge #97 (Things with wings) at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and the Mixed Media Card Challenge also with wings for the theme.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Forever Young "Flamingos" 2 Pager ~ FotoBella DT

Bo Bunny's Forever Young I Want It All Bundle from FotoBella, is exactly what I've had in mind for these flamingo photos that I've been waiting to scrap! I just LOVE the bright, tropical colors! I used both of the flamingo papers from the 12 X 12 Collection Pack, cutting off the flamingo on the second page, to create this 2 pager.

To add some texture and sparkle to the water, I applied some new Bo Bunny Glitter Paste (Sugar) using the Tim Holtz Stripes Stencil, which gave it a really neat ripple effect. Here's a closer look with one of the buttons that I added from the Ephemera pack.

The green and orange flowers also come in the Ephemera, along with the paisely stamp that I used to make the petals behind them. I used the clear plastic that the papers come in, to stamp the paisley with Ranger Archival Black ink. After fussy cutting them, I colored them with Alcohol Inks (Stream and Lettuce) and Blending Solution, adding some glitter Brads to the centers.

From the Noteworthy pack, I used the banner, tickets, and tag that I wrote on, peeking out from under the Film Sticker. I used Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on the tag and under the title, which I did by adding some Glitter Paste (Pink Punch) to the bottom half of the Alpha Stickers. All of the paper strips and edges were inked with  Black Soot Distress Ink, including the banner, which I curled up a little.

Thanks so much for your visit!
