April Lindy's Card

Hello again! I couldn't let the month go by without playing in the Lindy's Gang Color Challenge, and this card was the result.

The soft color palette is perfect for Spring!

My design inspiration came from Sketch #500 at Tuesday Morning Sketches

I started by smooshing Lindy's Gang Sprays (Fuzzy Navel Peach and A Bit O' Bubbly) onto white cardstock. Then I colored white gesso with a Squirt (Loonie Toonie Teal) and applied it to a doily stencil. The lotus design was recycled from thank you notes I received from Etsy for ordering some jewelry, and was painted with the same sprays as the background, in addition to my "mint" color, made by mixing Sidewalk Chalk and Sea Mint Green Sprays with Loonie Toonie Teal Squirt

The butterflies were stamped with the Bo Bunny Flutter Stamp, and painted with the same Lindy's colors.

I finished it up with this older Petaloo flower.

     Thanks for looking!

April Showers Tag ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

April here in Reno, Nevada has already brought showers, including hail/snow, inspiring this tag featuring the Dotty Flowers Stamp from Red Rubber Designs. Nicer temperatures have finally arrived, but the white dots look like the hail we were getting.

I started with a white Dina Wakley tag, and colored it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Black Orchid Silver and Long John's Silver Vintage) and Magical Shakers (Stormy Silver and Bavarian Blue). As it was drying, I painted the cardboard cloud with Dylusion's Paint (White Linen), and embossed it with Emerald Creek (Soft Fallen Snow) for a fluffy texture. Before adhering it, I embossed the edges of the tag with Emerald Creek (Mirror Platinum) EP.

The wooden umbrella was given a coat of Prima Marketing Black Gesso, and embossed with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry and Mirror Platinum) Embossing Powders. Then I painted rays under it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Rudolph's Nose Red, Marigold Yellow Orange, Freaky Frankenlime, Blue Hawaiian Blue, and Witch's Potion Purple) and Magical (Bling-y Blonde). The rain was done with a stencil embossed with Lindy's Gang (Clearly Clear) EP, also used on the word strips that I printed out.

The Dotty Flowers also got a coat of (Clearly Clear) EP, after stamping them with Palette Inks onto white cardstock. Then I used silver gromlets for the centers.

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy Earth Day! ~ FotoBella DT

Happy Earth Day! To celebrate our beautiful planet, I made an art journal page with an assortment of recycled items and some mixed media from FotoBella.com.

I started by adhering a white napkin to (opened up) to my page with Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel. Then I added torn strips from an old dictionary, the magazine images (the tree and Pacific Ocean in Northern California), and netting leftover from some fruit, and coated it with Prima Marketing Gesso (White and Clear). The clear gesso was applied to the circle stencil, and painted with Art Alchemy Paints (Deep Waters, Emerald Green, and Raven Black).

Before adding some old stickers for the title, I painted the sky with Art Alchemy Sparks (Magical Pond).

To blend the image with the background, I used a stipple brush with Prima Marketing Rust Pastes (Brown and Red) and (Dark Olive and Brown) from the Camouflage Set. Then I gave it some touches of Art Alchemy (Ginger Magic) Sparks Paint. I also used the pastes on some of the plastic greenery, which along with the grass, has been in my stash for awhile, and feels good to use up.

The bottom part of my page was painted with Art Alchemy Paints (Fairy Wings and Green-gold) before embossing with the Stamperia (Meadow) Stamp. Originally I was going to paint the globe from the Stamperia Wooden Frame (Around the World), but decided to keep it natural instead.

Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) 2 Pager ~ FotoBella DT

Hello! I'm back to show you how I used these ATC's from a previous post on this 2 pager, featuring the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection from FotoBella.com. If you missed it, click here for a step-by-step photo tutorial.

To make the ATC's stand out, I kept the other papers fairly simple with the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Simple Basics Kit, except for the dotted paper that comes in the Collector's Essential Kit. The heart next to the chipboard title, comes in the Collage Bits & Pieces, and was inked around the edges with Distress Ink (Stormy Sky), along with the dotted paper.

I also added some more Washi Tape, a couple of arrow stickers, and the other heart from the Bits and Pieces Package.

     Here's a close-up of one of the ATC's.

Thanks for looking, and stop by FotoBella.com to get the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection

Feeling Sketchy Guest Designer

I'm so honored to be guest designing for Feeling Sketchy this week, and was given this beautiful digital stamp (Sea Sunrise) from their sponsor FabrikaFantasy.com, to use on my card!

The beach theme worked great with Sketch #215!

I wanted to add lots of texture, so I applied some clear gesso to the water before painting it with Lindy's Gang Sprays (Delphinium Turquoise, Tibetan Poppy Teal, Buccaneer Bay Blue,) a new Squirt (Banff Blue), and Magical (Bling-y Blonde). After it dried, I lightly went over it with white gesso. The sunset was painted with Lindy's Magicals (Bling-y Blonde, Hi Maintenance Magenta, and Tears on my Pillow Tangerine), Spray (Tiffany Blue) and a Magical Shaker (Grab a Guy Gold), used on the sun rays.

The girl's hair was colored with Glimmer Mist (Just Brown), and because I'm a California girl, I gave her highlights with some specialty thread topped with some pearls. Then I painted her skin with a few coats of Lindy's Sprays mixed together (Cafe au Lait, Mission Bells Brown, Cosmopolitan Pink, and Fuzzy Navel Peach). I left her dress white, and covered it with some cheesecloth, adding beads to her bracelets, and a tiny rhinestone on her hand.

The sand was painted with Lindy's Gang Spray (Cafe au Lait and Treasure Island Aqua), and given further texture with actual sand.  Then I layered my image over a piece of cardstock covered with lace and cheesecloth, adhered with Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel, and lightly coated with white gesso. I finished it up with some pearls that I strung together, and some shells.

Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Art Journal ~ FotoBella DT

Now that it's Spring Break, it's the perfect time for travel, or to just play with the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection from FotoBella.com, like I did with my latest art journal page.

After priming my page with Prima Marketing Gesso (White), I painted it with a coat of Art Alchemy Sparks Paint (Mermaid Sparkle), followed by Art Alchemy Sparks Paint (Magical Pond), and another coat of (Mermaid Sparkle), for a beautiful water color and sheen.

The vintage map pieces were torn from the same paper in the 12 X 12 Collection Kit and the 6 X 8 Pad.  Then I distressed the edges with water and Distress Inks (Old Paper, Frayed Burlap, Bundled Sage, and Tattered Rose). After adding strips of Washi Tape, I made the clouds with a palette knife, using Prima Marketing Gesso (White)

To show my love of flying and being in the air, I added the planes and hot air balloons from the Collage Bits & Pieces, Bits & Pieces, and 6 X 12 Chipboard.

I barely put a dent in my dies, and with so many to chose from, "The Sky's the Limit" on what you can create with the Simple Stories (Simple Vintage Traveler) Collection from FotoBella.com!

Thanks for stopping by!
