Forever in our Hearts

This photo of my late grandparents is very dear to me, so I scrapped it yet again, as a Valentine's gift for my mom.

The purple and pinks from February's Color Challenge at Lindy's Stamp Gang, are definitely mom's colors!

I started with the chipboard heart frame, covered with some silver charms (angels, keys, hearts), and my Grandma's buttons, and coated with Prima's Heavy White Gesso. Then I colored it with LSG Sprays (Cotton Candy Pink, Witch's Potion Purple) and Magical Shimmer Powder (Prima Donna Purple) finished with some embossing using Queen Sheba's Silver EP. Finally, I glued each and every little pearl around the frame.

Behind the heart, is some notebook paper, made with a stencil and LSG Spray (Witch's Potion Purple) along with Magical Powder (Prima Donna Purple). Then I stamped it with some script, and added the title with some old stickers.

The background was made from a heavy piece of watercolor paper, with some overall stamping, and white gesso applied to the Tim Holtz Lace Stencil. Since doilies remind me of my grandma, who used to crochet them, I applied some Bo Bunny ones, cutting out the centers, to mimic the doughnuts from the color chart. Then I colored my page with the same sprays, finishing off my Cotton Candy Pink, :( and adding Magical Powder (Prima Donna Purple) with some water. The round windows, inspired from the ones in the photo, were embossed onto transparency paper with LSG Queen Sheba's Silver EP using Prima's Finnabair Net & Wire Stamp. Then I adhered them to the doily centers with Ranger's Glossy Accents. After coloring some more watercolor paper with the same Lindy's products, I used the Bo Bunny Stitches Stamp to create the smaller doilies, embossed with LSG Purely White EP.

Since I was missing the larger angel wings from the Tim Holtz Grungeboard, I used it as a stencil with white gesso, sprinkling glitter to them while wet. I love how some of the the colors underneath bled through the gesso! Finally, I added some Petaloo DIY Burlap Flowers colored with the same Lindy's Sprays and Magical Powder, also used to color the strip of lace that I added vertically.

      Thanks for looking!

Paris Collage Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

Bonjour! The French flag inspired this birthday card that I made for my son, who shares my love of France, featuring the Paris Collage, Triomphe Collage, and Ancient Map rubber stamps from Red Rubber Designs.

The stamping was done with permanent black ink, onto torn pieces of white tissue paper, layered, and made into a collage. Then I used TCW Mini Raven Mosaic stencil with white gesso for some texture. Once dry, I taped off the inner lines, and applied Distress Spray Stains (Blueprint Sketch and Candied Apple Red) to the outside edges.

After applying white gesso to Tim Holtz' Numbered Stencil, and waiting for it to dry, I covered it with Emerald Creek (Hammered Metal) Embossing Powder, which I also used along the edges of the black cardstock underneath.

The Eiffel Tower was cut from black cardstock with my Cricut Expression, and covered with Emerald Creek (Soft Fallen Snow) Embossing Powder.

I finished it up with hand-stitching in blue, white, and red. Vive la France!

Love You Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

February is the month of love, and the I Heart You Unmounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, is perfect for all of your Valentine's projects, including weddings and anniversaries! With a few other stamps, and an old plastic zipper, I created this card for my husband.

My design inspiration came from Sketch #186 at Feeling Sketchy.

I stamped the largest heart from the I Heart You Set on the back of the grey pocket, and cut it out, revealing the red cardstock with the sentiment. Then I hand-stitched around the heart, and machine-stitched around the pocket, after embossing it with the Background Stripes Stamp and Emerald Creek Hammered Metal EP

To mimic a love note coming out of the pocket, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Vintage Script Cling Mounted Stamp, anchored by three hearts from the I Heart You set.

The zipper was embossed with Emerald Creek Hammered Metal EP, and attached to a couple of 6" strips of red cardstock, embossed with the Victorian Borders Stamp using Emerald Creek Black Onyx EP.

Thanks for taking a look, and shop Red Rubber Designs for these stamps and more!

Super Blue Blood Moon

Did you see the Super Blue Blood Moon a few days ago? Unfortunately I missed the eclipse, but it sure did give me an extra boost of energy, and inspiration for my latest art journal page.

I tilted the design in half, for the Fire and Ice Challenge @ Try it on Tuesday, giving the top half a coat of Prima's Heavy Black Gesso. Then I used Clear and White Gesso with some stencils all over my page, coloring each side with Lindy's and Distress Spray Stains, adding LSG Danny Zuko's Denim Magical Powder to the ice side. The flames were torn from colored tissue papers and adhered with Prima's Soft Matte Gel.

Then I went over some of the gesso work with some of my new Emerald Creek Embossing Powders , which I absolutely LOVE!! To the top half, I used Chinese New Year, with Fractured Ice on the bottom, and Hammered Metal on both sides divided with the Bo Bunny Stitches Stamp.

The date was made from chipboard, coated with White Gesso, and stamped with permanent blue ink to create crackles. Then I embossed it with Fractured Ice, using Hammered Metal on the silver dots.

Such a fun page to create! Thanks for looking!

Go Red for Women ~ FotoBella DT

Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. So in honor of this day, I created a page in my art journal for the FotoBella FotoBella Design Team using goodies from FotoBella.com.

I started by masking a heart, cut from a piece of lace, with Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain. Then I stamped along the heart with Prima Marketing's Garden Fable Stamp, using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink, colored with Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain. The title was made with some older Bo Bunny stickers, with a coat of red Stickles applied to "red".

I also applied red Stickles to the butterflies, stamped with Bo Bunny's Flutter Stamp.

Prima Marketing's Princess Zara Stamp was embossed with Ranger Rainbow Sparkle EP, and inked with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink onto heavy white cardstock.  Her skin was colored with Distress Spray Stains (Antique Linen, Wild Honey, with just a tad of Vintage Photo). Then I used Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain, Candied Apple Distress Ink,  Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain, Black Soot Distress Ink, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to color her in with Prima Marketing's Watercolor Brush/Pen Set. Finally, I used red Stickles again, to add some sparkle to the flower centers.

Thanks for stopping by, and shop RED at FotoBella.com!
