I had so much fun making the background on this layout, featuring the So Splattered Cling Mounted Stamp from Red Rubber Designs!
I started by spraying my background with Lindy's Stamp Gang Treasure Island Aqua onto watercolor paper. Then I mixed some clear gesso with my Magicals, and applied them with a brush in a circle/spiral design. Once dry I sprinkled more of the powder over my design, spraying it with water. Then I mixed Danny Zuko's Denim with white gesso to use with TCW Butterfly Collage Stencil, after placing my photos. At first it was too light, so I added more powder, sprayed with water, to create some of the darker blues. I love the splash on the stencil, and added part of it over my photos! To further enhance the splashes, I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Purely White Embossing Powder with the So Splattered Cling Mounted Stamp Set from Red Rubber Designs.
The circles were hand-stitched using all 5 colors from the palette. Then I added a circle of rope in between the stitching for some texture. To make the palm trees, I cut them with my Cricut Expression using the Life Is A Beach cartridge onto cream cardstock. I tore apart a piece of the same rope, and wrapped it around the trunks, covering it with clear gesso. Once dry, I colored it with Sandra Dee Sepia Magical powder. Then I covered the palm fronds with a coat of clear gesso, and drew some lines in the centers of the fronds before coloring it with Greased Lightnin' Green.
All of the Petaloo Textured Flowers and butterfly were also colored with this Magical set, along with the titlework, which was also cut from the Life Is A Beach Cricut Cartridge.
Finally I added some enamel dots to my page for the September This or That Challenge.
My design inspiration came from this awesome Sketch no. 78 from Scrap Africa!
All of the colors on this page were done using Lindy's Stamp Gang Go Greased Lightnin' Magicals, which happens to be the palette for the September Color Challenge. It's also the first set of Magicals that I accidently bought, as I had ordered the sprays, but was SO glad that I decided to keep them and try them out instead.
