Fire Art Journal Page

I didn't intend to add flames to this art journal page, until I came across some old campfire photos, which really brought it to life!

The colors and gears were inspired by Lindy's Gang April Color Challenge, which I was immediately drawn to.

It was also the perfect opportunity to play with my new Stamperia Steampunk Mechanism Stencil from FotoBella.com. After doing some background stamping, I applied Prima Marketing Black Gesso to my stencil, and waited for it to dry. Then I reapplied the stencil, to add Lindy's  Midnight Copper and Twilight Bronze Slate Embossing Powders. Finally, I used a stipple brush to lightly apply Prima Brown and Red Rust Paste on random areas. The chain on top was a recycled find, and covered with Midnight Copper EP.

I also used Midnight Copper to emboss some clocks onto clear transparency paper, and cut the center from one, to make a frame for my flames. The gear behind it was embossed with Twilight Bronze Slate, with touches of Rust Paste added to it, using the Prima Finnabair Rust & Dust Stamp.

I also added some rust pastes to a few older gear and cog stickers, except for the largest one, which was originally yellow, that I embossed with Byzantine Bronze EP. To color the background, I used Lindy's Poinciana Red Flame, Cajun Carnelian Red, Mission Bells Brown, Steampunk Sepia, and Pineapple Paradise.

Thanks for stopping by!
