Rise & Shine Coffee Tag

Good morning! Today I have a tag made for the Emerald Creek March Challenge based on an Ordinary Day, which I must admit stumped me at first. But no matter what kind of day I'm having, coffee gets me through it, and gets those gears going.

I also wanted to play in the Pass the Tissue, Please! Challenge again at Frilly and Funkie, since I really do need to start using up my large stash of it. So I covered torn pieces of white tissue paper onto a manila tag using Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel, and painted it with Lindy's Sprays (Cafe au Lait, Mission Bells Brown) and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (It's Brown), which I also used for the splatters. Then I used Soft Matte Gel again to adhere a piece of white tissue paper onto burlap, and stamped and embossed the coffee bag with EC Oil Rubbed Bronze EP. I used the same colors to paint it, and added beads to look like coffee beans spilling out from it.

The rest of the stamping was done with Prima Marketing Stamps, with the mug embossed with Oil Rubbed Bronze EP, and the other background stamping embossed with Onyx Frost EP, using the Salvage District Stamp. Then I cut the letters with my Cricut Expression (Printing Press cartridge), and embossed "Rise" with Burnt Copper Leaves, "&" with Kettle Copper, and "Shine" with Mirror Gold embossing powders.

I couldn't make this tag with using EC Just Java (Aroma) embossing powder, added to the edges, and onto the gears, mixed with Burnt Copper Leaves EP, Mirror Gold EP, Ancient Amber (Baked Texture), and Chunky Rust (Baked Texture).

The sun was cut with my Cricut Expression (Life is a Beach cartridge), with the bottom layer embossed with Mirror Gold EP, and the top layer done with Ancient Amber (Baked Texture)

     Thanks for stopping by!

Lavender Lindy's Card

Hello again! I hope you're enjoying the weekend. Even though it's been snowing/raining here in Reno, the card I just made is all ready for Spring!

The soft, muted colors were inspired by the March Color Challenge at Lindy's Gang

Seeing the book from the moodboard, I decided to collage torn strips from an old dictionary to a piece of white cardstock with clear gesso. Then I adhered some lace and flowers, covered it all with Prima Marketing White Gesso, some touches of Prima Marketing Texture Paste (Platinum Crackle), and waited for everything to dry. Once it did, the fun part began by painting with my Lindy's Gang Sprays (Sea Mint Green, Landlubber Green Vintage, Pop Rock Purple, Long John's Silver Vintage, and Black Orchid Silver) revealing a gorgeous palette with fabulous shimmer.

Since I have a container practically bursting with tissue papers, and for the Pass the Tissues, Please! Challenge at Frilly and Funkie, I fussy cut the purple flowers and adhered them with Prima Marketing Soft Matte Gel.

The wood planks were stamped after collaging torn pieces of white tissue paper with the Prima Marketing Finnabair Trust the Magic Stamp. Then I did some hand-stitching through all of the layers, aside from the card base.

My new Prima Marketing Mica Flakes (Granite) were perfect for this project, scattered among the roses!

The sentiment was a left over piece that I had previously cut with my Cricut Expression. Since it was red, I covered it with white gesso, painted it with (Black Orchid Silver) Spray and (Black Black Forest Black) Magical Shaker, and added black gesso to Thank You. Then I embossed over it with Queen Sheba's Silver EP, also used along the edges of the card base.

Thanks for looking!

Spring Art Journal ~ FotoBella DT

Today we welcome the first day of Spring, in all of it's splendor, with the flowers, birds, and colors, inspiring hope and new beginnings! So I'm starting off the season with an art journal page using my Dylusion's Paints and other mixed media from FotoBella.com

The colors, flowers, bird, and arch were inspired by the beautiful Art and Soul Studio March Moodboard

To the background, I glued down three craft feathers, and covered them with Prima Marketing Gesso (White). After drying, I used a paint brush to apply Dylusion's Paints (Vibrant Turquoise, Calypso Teal, Rose Quartz, Bubblegum Pink, Fresh Lime, Postbox Red, After Midnight, Crushed Grape, and Laidback Lilac). Then I applied the same gesso to the Stamperia Alchemy Moon Stencil, omitting the moon and stars, and turning it upside down to frame my page. I later embossed over it with Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Bone). The leaves trailing down, were done with the Stamperia Lemons Stencil by applying gesso, and embossing with Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Lime). To add shadows, I outlined it with Dylusion's Paint (Black Marble), also used with a Mini Blending Tool on top, to create the borders using an old Tim Holtz mask.

I also used the Mini Blending Tool with Dylusion's Paints (White Linen) to create a ray of light onto the bird, followed by Prima Marketing Finnabair Unicorn Paste, which has beautiful chunks of glitter. The flowers were embossed with the Bo Bunny Floral Stamp, Prima Marketing Garden Fable Stamp, and the Stamperia Poppies Stamp, colored with the same paints, with beads added to some of the centers.

All of the black embossing was done with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) EP, with some of the new Prima Marketing Finnabair Stamps (Clear Stamp #4 and #5) used on the background.

I love the poppies, colored with the same paints from the background!

But the star of this page is the bird, cut with the Cricut Expression (Home Decor cartridge) onto white cardstock. Then I added a feather to the top layer wing, covered it with gesso, and colored it with Distress Spray Stains (Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet). The rest of the bird was colored with Dylusion's Paints, with Unicorn Paste added to the bottom layer.

Graphic 45 (Flutter) Art Journal ~ FotoBella DT

Hello! Today I have an art journal page featuring the gorgeous Graphic 45 (Flutter) I REALLY Want It All Bundle, that I combined with my Dyan Reaveley's Dylusion's Paints from FotoBella.com

I started by tearing papers from the (Flutter) 8" X 8" Pad, since I worked in my smaller art journal, which measures 7" X 10". Then I cut the strip and title, and inked the edges with Distress Ink (Black Soot).

The small Ephemera card with the bee, was also inked before adding some Chipboard.

Then I applied Prima Marketing Gesso (Black) to a stencil along the top and bottom left.

After cutting the butterfly from the Flutter 12 X 12 Collection Pack, came the fun part! Dylusion's Paints (Bubblegum Pink, Vibrant Turquoise, Cut Grass, Fresh Lime, Lemon Zest, Crushed Grape, and White Linen) slightly watered down, and applied with a brush and some sprays of water.

Thanks for looking, and pick up the Graphic 45 (Flutter) I REALLY Want It All Bundle at FotoBella.com.

Green Best Wishes Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

My parents recently got their genealogy results done, and found out that my Dad has a little Irish in him, which we never knew. He's also battling cancer, and just had his 3rd stroke, so I wanted his birthday card to be extra special. So I combined some of my Red Rubber Designs stamps with some gesso, sprays, and embossing powders to create this lucky card full of love and hope!

The first thing I did was to make the lake from white gesso, using a palette knife to create ripples. Then I colored it and the background with some Lindy's Sprays (Cathedral Pines Green, Frosty Forest Green, Freaky Frankenlime, Ocean Breeze Blue, and Tibetan Poppy Teal). I added a few more layers of spray to the water, followed by Prima Art Alchemy Paints (Mermaid Sparkle and Magical Pond), and clear embossing powder. Along the edges of the lake, I adhered some green glitter.

The trees were inked in black, with some embossed with Lindy's Gang (Angel Wings Peacock) EP using the Tree Silhouettes and Mountain Scenery Stamps.

The shamrocks were stamped and embossed with the Celtic Images Stamp, with some rhinestones added to the centers. The gold embossing was done with Ranger (Gold Tinsel). Then I embossed the sentiment with the Sophisticated Sentiments Stamp using Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) EP.

Thanks for visiting, and get these stamps and more at Red Rubber Designs!

Graphic 45 (Flutter) 2 Page Layout ~ FotoBella DT

Flowers, bugs, butterflies, and bright colors mix beautifully, in the new Graphic 45 (Flutter) I REALLY Want It All Bundle from FotoBella.com! So I made a two page layout, showcasing this gorgeous collection that will leave you yearning for Spring.

I was instantly inspired by this fabulous sketch by Noreen Smith, and knew the butterflies would make great replacements for the hearts.

To replicate the fence in the photos, I applied Prima Marketing Gesso (White) to a wood grain stencil, onto both sheets of Bazzill Cardstock (Quicksand) from the Flutter Coordinating Cardstock. Then I spritzed it with Distress Spray Stain (Hickory Smoke) and Kaisermist Spray (Coffee), followed by Dylusions Paint (Slate Grey) that I just rubbed on with my fingers.

The neutral colors make a great backdrop to the colorful butterflies that I fussy-cut from the Flutter 12 X 12 Paper Pack

I used a larger Ephemera card for my title, and inked the edges along with the patterned banner pieces, with Distress Ink (Black Soot).

All of the banner pieces were machine-stitched with a crisp, white thread.

To make the Sticker borders fit onto both pages, I cut and pieced them to look like one continuous line behind the photos, using a ruler as a guide.

Thanks for stopping by, and get the Graphic 45 (Flutter) I REALLY Want It All Bundle at FotoBella.com!

Mardi Gras Coins

Although I've never been to New Orleans or celebrated Mardi Gras, it's always been on my to-do list, and so has making Artist Trading Coins, the latest challenge at Frilly and Funkie. It was the perfect opportunity to make this festive set, each coin measuring 2 1/2"!

The circles and frames were cut with my Cricut Expression, and covered with Prima Marketing Gesso (Black). Then I used a toothpick to create lines on the frames, and painted them and the circles with a coat of Prima Art Alchemy Metallique (Rustic Brown), followed by a coat of Art Alchemy Sparks (Dragon's Eye). The same paints were also used on the mask, found and printed online, along with the toothpick to the side of it. Next, I applied black gesso to a couple of stencils, followed by Green and Purple Stickles to create the diamonds.

Another first with this project was using Prima Paper Clay with the new Finnabair Art Noveau Moulds to create the women, giving them  Dusty Attic Chipboard Crowns.

What's Mardi Gras without beads? Each coin got some, and I even strung some to make little necklaces.

The fleur de lis was also cut with my Cricut Expression using the Home Decor cartridge, and strung with some ribbon.

Thanks for looking!
