La Liocorne

     As soon as I saw this month's fantasy theme at Art Journal Journey, I knew I wanted to use my new Stamperia Wonderland Stencil from FotoBella.com, which I previously hadn't had a chance to use, on this art journal page.

     And this month's Lindy's Gang Color Challenge inspired the color palette.

      I started by stamping the background with a couple of Prima Stamps using Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink. Then I applied Prima White Gesso to my Stamperia Wonderland Stencil. Once dry, I colored it with Lindy's Magicals (Tears on my Pillow Tangerine and Danny Zuko's Denim from the Go Greased Lightnin' Flat Set and Prima Donna Purple from the Drop Dead Diva Shimmer Set) and Sprays (Delphinium Turquoise Shimmer, Witch's Potion Purple Shimmer, Golden Doubloons Vintage, A Bit O Bubble, and Sidewalk Chalk Flat). Then I used my stencil again over some of script and the butterfly with Hyacinth Blue Jade Embossing Powder, and rubbed it lightly with Prima Metallique Wax (Vintage Gold).

          To highlight the unicorn, and a few other areas of my page, I applied the stencil again to use with Lindy's Purely White Embossing Powder. Like the script, I went over it with Prima Metallique Wax (Vintage Gold). Then I adhered gold and clear sequins and beads.

     The butterflies were stamped and embossed with Hyacinth Blue Jade Embossing Powder onto cardstock that I sprayed with the same background colors, using the Bo Bunny Flutter Stamp.

Haberdashery

     A haberdashery is shop selling small articles of sewing, such as buttons, ribbons, and zippers, and is the current challenge over at Frilly and Funky. As busy as I've been with other projects, and being a former seamstress and quilter, I just had to create my own, made from quite a few recycled items.

       Like the frozen dinner box that I built it from, measuring 6" X 6" with a 1 1/2" depth.

     A few years ago, my mom gave me a few books of curtain samples, so I finally used one of them to make the canopy, which inspired the rest of the colors.

   

     To make the bricks on the back and sides, I used a stencil with white gesso mixed with some Magicals, applied over a coating of black gesso. Then I sprayed it, and gave it some texture with Ranger's Brick Antiquities Embossing Powder. The frame and bracket that I made to support the canopy was embossed with Emerald Creek Onyx Frost onto gold cardstock, using some old architecture stamps.

     My other recycled items are the vintage gold spools of thread, that I unwound, belonging to my late grandma, when it cost just 40 cents for the smaller ones, and 70 cents for the large one, which were on the labels that I scrubbed off. I also used the back of one of her buttons to hold the hands of the clock that I made from one of the smaller spools.

   
     The "wallpaper" was made with some Lindy's Sprays, and stamped with a couple of red inks, with clear embossing powder over it. Then I embossed the sewing embellishments with Emerald Creek's Black Onyx and Mirror Gold Embossing Powders, using the Sew Thankful Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, and popping up the sewing machine and pin cushion with some pop dots. The final touch, and reason for these horrible photos, is the clear acetate that I glued to the window. Between the glare from that and all of the gold, it was very difficult to photograph. But I'm so thrilled with the results, and wish you could see it in real life!

Happy Leaf Birthday Card ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

     Happy Thursday! I'm back with a card featuring the Happy Leaf Unmounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, just in time for the upcoming Fall season.

     Wanting to experiment more with my Distress Oxide Inks, I created the background with them, in addition to some regular Distress Inks, by smooshing the inks with water onto white cardstock. Then I used the same Oxide Inks (Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo) to stamp the leaves and sentiment with the Happy Leaf Stamp, and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

     Since this card is a little smaller than my usual ones, I wanted to add lots of texture, so I backed it with some burlap, and added some fibers, including the strands I took form the burlap to fringe the edges.

     Finally, I finished it up with some hand-stitching.

KaiserCraft Pen & Ink Layout ~ FotoBella DT

     I was so excited to receive my first "fully loaded" kit as part of the new FotoBella Design Team, featuring the KaiserCraft Pen & Ink Bundle! I even managed to use the additional 6.5" Paper Pad, Mini Ink Pad (Black), KaiserCraft Spray (Coffee), Pearls (Pearl), and Scor-Tape 1/8" on this page that I scrapped of my husband's late grandmother.

   
     I was immediately drawn to the beautiful 12 X 12 die cut sheet from the Pen & Ink Bundle, reminding me of an old mirror. So I adhered onto black cardstock rubbed with Prima Marketing Metallique Waxes (Old Silver and Brushed Iron), also used behind the photo. Then I layered it with a piece of lace, dyed with the Kaisermist Spray (Coffee), and papers from the bundle and 6.5" Paper Pad.

     I just LOVE the butterfly stamp, and embossed it onto one of the papers from the collection with Lindy's Gang (Twilight Bronze Slate) Embossing Powder! Then I colored it with Distress Ink Pads (Frayed Burlap, Pumice Stone, and Hickory Smoke), using one of my Prima Marketing Watercolor Brush/Pen's. After fussy-cutting, I adhered it with the Scor-Tape 1/8" so it won't flutter away.

     The KaiserCraft Mini Ink Pad (Black) was used on the edges of the die cuts, including the clock that I applied Ranger Glossy Accents to, and to coat the wooden hinge, followed with a coat of Lindy's Gang (Twilight Bronze Slate) Embossing Powder, to match the butterfly.

     By looking at them, you'd never know the white flowers from my stash, were colored with one spray, but the Kaisermist (Coffee) Spray aged them perfectly with brown and grey shimmery tones. Then I added some KaiserCraft Pearls (Pearl) to the centers. 

    I also used the KaiserCraft Pearls scattered among the buttons that I inherited from the pretty lady in the photo.

Stamperia Poppies ~ FotoBella DT

     Hello and welcome back! I made another page in my art journal to showcase the Stamperia Poppies Stamp from FotoBella.com.

     The night sky was done with some water and Dylusion's Paints, (Vibrant Turquoise, White Linen, and Black Marble) applied with my fingers. Then I used White Linen again to splatter the stars with a stencil brush.

     After embossing the Poppies onto white cardstock, I painted them with several layers of watered down Postbox Red, Tangerine Dream, Lemon Zest, and Polished Jade Dylusion's Paints, waiting for each layer to dry, before applying the next. Once they were completely dry, I used an X-Acto Knife and scissors to cut them out, and gave them a light coat of Wink of Stella (Clear).

     Before adhering the poppies though, I used the top right side of the Stamperia Wonderland to the top right side of my page, with white gesso. Then I went over it with Prima Marketing Metallique Wax (Vintage Gold) using my fingers. 

     The quote was done in Photoshop, and colored with Distress Inks (Hickory Smoke, Broken China, and Cracked Pistachio). 

     Finally, I stamped the Stamperia Grassland Stamp along the bottom with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink.

Bo Bunny Sunshine Bliss Cards ~ FotoBella DT

     Hello again! I'm back with a set of cards made with the Bo Bunny Sunshine Bliss I Want It All Bundle from FotoBella.com. Each card (measuring 5" X 9") features something from the Noteworthy pack and wooden birdcages, using a variety of techniques and products, like the one seen below, coated with Bo Bunny Gold Stencil Paste and Ranger Verdigris Embossing Powder.

     The background was done with Bo Bunny White Gesso, also lightly applied to the strip of gold burlap from my own stash, and colored with a few spritzes of Distress Spray Stains (Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber). 

     On the "So Grateful" card, I applied Bo Bunny White Gesso to all of the birdcages, following a light coat of Ranger Verdigris Embossing Powder.

     

     The larger die from the Noteworthy pack, was inked along the edges using my Blending Tool, with Pine Needle Distress Ink. Then I popped up the bottom birdcage placed onto the smaller die.

     The banner pieces on the "Hello Beautiful" card, were inked along the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

     Then I applied Bo Bunny Silver Stencil Paste to the large key from the Royal Stencil Set, the birdcage, and smeared onto parts of the paper, giving it some shimmer and translucency. 

     I'm saving this last card for the next St. Patrick's Day, to celebrate the first date with my husband. But to spell LOVE, I had to cut the LY from the "lovely" die, and used the leftover frame on the layer underneath. 

     The birdcage was coated with Bo Bunny Silver Stencil Paste, and a light coat of Ranger Verdigris Embossing Powder. Then I added more sparkle with some micro beads added to the flower centers. 

     So which birdcage technique did you like the most? I still can't decide between the Gold (shown on the first card) or the Silver Stencil Paste, (shown on the last card) with the Verdigris Embossing Powder. Come Fly With Me Tag ~ Red Rubber Designs DT

     Happy Thursday! Today I'm featuring the Fly Fairy Unmounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, with a few other stamps on this vintage tag. She was colored with Distress Inks, after embossing with Emerald Creek Black Cherry Embossing Powder, so she smells great too! Then I added some fibers to her coat and hat, for some faux fur texture. My favorite part though, is the little button that I embossed onto black cardstock with EC Kettle Copper Embossing Powder, used throughout the tag, including the pin she's perched on!

     You can probably see the copper better in this photo, where I embossed "FLY" and the fairy dust from the Fly Fairy set. The rest of the sentiment, or song, was done with some old alpha stickers.

     This Frank Sinatra song, which I'm sure you're already singing, inspired the music notes, stamped with the Vintage Background Stamp, onto torn strips of white tissue paper. Before adhering though, I used Distress Inks to color the tag and flowers. By lightly spritzing the Dotty Flowers Stamp with water, after you ink it, you'll get a great watercolor effect!

1st Birthday Bo Bunny Sunshine Bliss Layout

     Do you have a little princess in your life? The Bo Bunny Sunshine Bliss I Want It All Bundle combined with Gold Stencil Paste from FotoBella.com is all you need to scrap your own diva, like this page I scrapped starring my adorable niece.

     The frames were cut from the back of the "peace" paper. Then I punched the sides of the "joy" sheet, adding Gold Stencil Paste to the edges, and along the strip of the "charm" paper.

     The Gold Stencil Paste was also applied to the one, from the Chipboard Thickers. Then I embossed "birthday" with Ranger's Sea Foam White Embossing Powder, onto a banner piece cut from the back of the "euphoria" sheet.

     Finally, I used one of the crowns from the Royal Stencil Set, included in the Bo Bunny Sunshine Bliss Bundle, to apply more Gold Stencil Paste.
